sunshinemiss -> Resolutions for the New Year... (12/26/2010 7:36:28 AM)

Do you have any? Are you working on any?

I was just writing on another post.... "It's the little things..." and that is generally true - the little things that bring us joy, the little things that irritate. The little changes like a stone dropped into a pond that gets bigger and bigger, the flap of a butterfly's wing.

I am committed to attending a dance retreat this year.

I am also going to doing something kind for myself every day.

I am committed to continuing my writing - 2-3 hours per week.

That's all for now.

What about you?

Lose the 20 pounds and 10 inches still left around my middle.  (I've lost 7 pounds but no inches.  [>:])

It will most likely be to get back to a more sensible diet.  The holiday has already been going on for the past week in the food department and I have a refrigerator full of leftovers.  Ham isn't exactly a lean meat and neither are the cheeses and other treats in the house.  It will all end on New Year's Day when I make the soup that is made from the ham bone that's become the tradition in our household.

Kalista07 -> RE: Resolutions for the New Year... (12/26/2010 9:12:01 AM)

I have issues with the whole "resolution" thing.....I fear that if I admit something has been committed to around the time of resolutions it may cheapen it a bit....  With that said my goals for this year include:
Being more compassionate to myself.... treating myself with the grace and dignity that I treat those around me.
Becoming involved in the local community in kink, non kink, and everything in between.
Recognizing that my body is a temple and as such deserves to be treated well.
Taking control of my future employment. I can either continue to allow others to get rich off of my hard work and dedication,or I can empower myself.
Increase the amount of activity that I engage in physically.....

I hope that everyone finds their needs easily met, their dreams coming true, and their fantasies a mere reality this year.

Only new years resolution I ever kept is from 1982. I resolved to "Never again cut My chin shaving" (I have a bad scar there from a bike wreck when I was a kid).

I have had a beard ever since except for 4 months when I had a job that required a full face respirator. I managed to not cut it that summer somehow.

Toppingfrmbottom -> RE: Resolutions for the New Year... (12/26/2010 9:52:30 AM)

I don't belive in making NY resolutions. So no, I don't have any.

LadyHibiscus -> RE: Resolutions for the New Year... (12/26/2010 10:44:16 AM)

My GOAL is a new job. I never resolve to do anything but survive.

petmonkey -> RE: Resolutions for the New Year... (12/26/2010 10:56:19 AM)

One is: Hang out with friends more.  Having worked graveyards for years has been hard on my social life.  i've rearranged my work schedule to half days/half nights.  And already made a commitment to hang with an old pal-o-mine i haven't seen in ages for next Sunday.

Start smoking.

anniezz338 -> RE: Resolutions for the New Year... (12/26/2010 11:26:17 AM)

My goal is to not kill my cell phone next year.....dammit.

Good thread, Sunny.

I steer clear of the word resolutions, but I'd like to...

...put back on the weight I lost during my stint working nights.
...actually get my lazy tail to the gym and build some of the muscle I've "been meaning to get to" for years.
...get out of this dead-end customer service job and start doing something I actually enjoy.
...get out more into our local community and meet some of the wonderful perverts in our area.
...actually meet some of the CM folks Aqua keeps talking about me with, since I've gotten so many secondhand requests.

I'm sure I'll add more to this later!

I see resolutions as a set up for failure.

This is highly a matter of personal perspective, of course; i.e. it's all in the mind and has everything to do with the power of positive thought. You either "resolve" to do something, or you don't. If you think you can, you probably will. If not, then no. But then, this is true of most of the rest of life as we know it, n'est ce pas?

My resolutions:
1) get healthier
1a) get real about my weight loss, no unrealistic time frame
1b) get down with some yoga, Pilates, and work my way up to Tae-bo.
2) eat organically as much as possible
3) build a fabulous garden
4) enact some small projects for a little cash on the side
5) reach out to estranged family members and other loved ones

I resolve to get a new Ken and Barbie to play with.

My neighbors would really appreciate it if I would let them go home.

Might as well tell her not to walk, cook, or breathe while you're at it.

The usual...lose weight, stop eating fatty foods, keep my room "clean" (keep all the yarn in the closet.), hopefully find out why I get light headed and passing out, raid HL more and more...and finish up all the kids afghans before I pass on this plane.
