The Real Difference Between Cats and Dogs:

A dog looks at humans and says, "Wow, these humans are so nice to me; they play with me, give me noms and a warm, dry place to sleep and laps to sit on.. they must be GODS!"

A cat looks at the same humans and says, "Wow, these humans are so nice to me; they play with me, give me noms and a warm, dry place to sleep and laps to sit on.. I must be a GOD!"

EDITED to add: bellyrubs. I think that's one thing they have in common..

And something like "Dogs have owners, cats have staff". That quote, too. *nod*

Our cat will roll onto her back, inviting you to give her bellyrubs. IT'S A TRAP!!!! Not only will you need to visit the urgent care to get the wounds treated, they will consider those slashes in the wrist clear evidence of a suicide attempt, and keep you for 72 hours.

Phoenixpower -> RE: What makes a cat a cat? (12/26/2010 9:29:06 PM)

their own mind. You can put 7 dogs in front of a sled to make them pull the sled, however, go and try doing that with 7 cats [:D]

Hey, I thought that was just my cat! He rolls over and looks up at you and makes this cute, funny little face. If you attempt to come within ten feet of his belly, however, he will immediately attempt to kill you. What a jerk! [8D]

Twoshoes -> RE: What makes a cat a cat? (12/26/2010 10:42:38 PM)

Rofl pam - nice thread.

On a side note, I knew a cat which would not stop clawing and biting me while being playful. [&:] Yet it was soooo cute. But lacerations itch soooo badly. Ironically, the cat was named after my sister... [;)]

The Ad-dressing of Cats
by T.S. Eliot

You've heard of several kinds of cat
And my opinion now is that
You should need no interpreter
To understand our character

You're learned enough to take the view
That cats are very much like you
You've seen us both at work and games
And learnt about our proper names
Our habits and out habitat
But how would you ad-dress a cat?

So first, your memory I'll jog
And say: A cat is not a dog

Now dogs pretend they like to fight
They often bark, more seldom bite
But yet a dog is, on the whole
What you would call a simple soul

The usual dog about the town
Is much inclined to play the clown
And far from showing too much pride
Is frequently undignified
He's such an easygoing lout
He'll answer any hail or shout

The usual dog about the town
Is inclined to play the clown

Again I must remind you that
A dog's a dog, a cat's a cat

With cats, some say one rule is true
Don't speak 'til you are spoken to
Myself I do not hold with that
I say you should ad-dress a cat
But always bear in mind that he
Resents familiarity

You bow, and taking off your hat
Ad-dress him in this form: "O' cat!"

Before a cat will condescend
To treat you as a trusted friend
Some little token of esteem
Is needed, like a dish of cream

And you might now and then supply
Some caviar, or Strassburg pie
Some potted grouse or salmon paste
He's sure to have his personal taste
And so in time you reach your aim
And call him by his name

So this is this, and that is that
And there's how you ad-dress a cat

A cat's entitled to expect
These evidences of respect
So this is this, and that is that
And there's how you ad-dress a cat

pam

That's my father's cat! I'm the only person who ever brings this creature a new cat toy and that's exactly how I get repaid. Plus a sneezing and coughing fit.

Cats taste better. And, they fit on the grill.[8D]

soul2share -> RE: What makes a cat a cat? (12/27/2010 10:24:46 PM)

My Boo kitty loves to have his belly rubbed...he'll roll over and lay there for as long as he can sucker someone into rubbing it.  He'll sit there and give out these weak little silent *mrow* to sound especially pathetic.  Of course, Boo will also do the "I fall down HERE" plop, usually right under my feet for his skatches.  Never does he do it like when I'm in bed, and we can BOTH be comfortable....no, instead, I'm dumb enough to stop whatever it is I'm doing and cater to him.  I am SUCH a sucker, and they know it!  In fact, Boo is doing the silent little *mrow* thing right now.  So I'm going to have to cave and get down on the cold floor to give him his rubs.

Now the other 3, try to get near their bellies and it's scratch city......
