The OP had installed a hacking program on the computer- that is different then using someones password that it left out in a note by the computer. So on that- he is guilty.

You lost me.  The OP is tazzygirl.  The alleged hacker is Leon Walker, who used a password and did not hack.  Neither one used a hacking program.  Who are you referring to, that installed a hacking program?

If they were married when he peeked then it is legal.  If they were divorced when he peeked then it is not.  A married couple is considered one person.

I'll be breathlessly awaiting your legal citation for this.

chuckles.   I know this because I filed a complaint against my grandfather who opened a letter I sent to my grandmother.   Nothing could be done as they were married.  It was a mute point.

First of all, you keep constantly using this phrase and constantly getting it wrong.  It's moot, not mute.

Second, no one has the right to open another person's mail regardless of their relationship to that person.

18 USC 1702 - Obstruction of correspondence

Whoever takes any letter, postal card, or package out of any post office or any authorized depository for mail matter, or from any letter or mail carrier, or which has been in any post office or authorized depository, or in the custody of any letter or mail carrier, before it has been delivered to the person to whom it was directed, with design to obstruct the correspondence, or to pry into the business or secrets of another, or opens, secretes, embezzles, or destroys the same, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than five years, or both.

Its not a moot ... and the word is moot, not mute... point. She would have to file the complaint.

First off, the point was gotten across.  It was known that 'moot' was meant.  And, if you are going to insist on picking at someone's spelling, grammar, or the like, perhaps you should realise (that is an accepted spelling, by the way) that your first word should be "It's" with an apostrophe, not a possessive.

Changed my mind.

I should care what you think... why?

"or to pry into the business or secrets of another, "

This is not another under the law. The same law that prevents the prosecution from compelling her to testify against him makes this point nulll and void. And being email, even if he deleted it, she could retrieve it, which means he did not obstruct it's delivery in any significant way.

Of course he could've just shot her like that guy on Oklahoma..........

Which is why i said it required pa's grandmother to presecute.

Btw, T, that post you quoted was in response to pahunk's post about his grandparents, not in response to the OP.

Frankly I don't care whether or not you do. I just figure if you're going to pick on someone's misuse of a word, even though the meaning was quite clear, then you should see to it that your spelling is impeccable. Or, why not simply speak to the topic, and, if you disagree with someone, fine, but don't pick apart someone's misspellings.

If it hadnt been pointed out to him before, no one would have made an issue. Try getting to know posters before stomping into a thread and deciding you know what you are speaking about.

I'm assuming this was in reply to me since you quoted a portion of the code that I posted.

If so, then you must realize I was referring directly to Pahunk's contention that married couples can legally open each others regular mail.

I was not commenting on the e-mail issue.

So what if it had? The point is, it never needed to be made an issue of. Obviously your grammar/spelling isn't perfect, so who are you to go and rip on another's?

And who are you to tell me what i can or cant rip on? Annoying twat who doesnt know fuck all about anything here.

There is a huge difference between moot and mute, but i would not expect you to understand that.

As i said before, you dont know the posters. You dont know our interactions, and if you believe any of us give a fuck about what you think... then you really need to go back to the "kinder and gentler" boards.

There is also quite a difference between "Its" and "It's", but I am quite aware someone like you would be unable to realise such a thing. I don't need to know the posters to know that it's only when someone has nothing of actual importance to say in response it's (See? The contraction of 'it is) then when they decide to pick on the grammar or choice of words, though they know full well what is meant. And, you seem to think I 'give a fuck' what you seem to think.

And yet you keep posting way off topic. Seems you care more than you are willing to admit.

Topic... Wife's emails... husband charged... family pc... affair with abusive ex husband... child at risk.

If you cant post on topic, dont post.

And you keep right on responding. It seems you do as well. Why not follow your own advice? Pointing out someone's misuse of a word is hardly on-topic now, is it?
