Its a great mouthwash. Ingestion If ingested, solutions of hydrogen peroxide up to concentrations of 9% are generally nontoxic; however, even a 3% solution is mildly irritating to mucosal tissue and may cause vomiting and diarrhea. Ingestion of industrial-strength solutions (≥10%) causes systemic toxicity and has been associated with fatalities ........ Health Effects •Hydrogen peroxide is corrosive to skin, eyes, and mucous membranes at high concentrations (>10%); lower concentrations may cause irritation. •Other effects occur from inhalation or ingestion and may include gas embolism, gastric irritation, gastric distension and emesis, an accumulation of fluid in the lungs, unconsciousness, and respiratory arrest. •Symptoms become more severe as the concentration of hydrogen peroxide increases. http://www.atsdr.cdc.gov/MHMI/mmg174.html Symptoms•Abdominal pain and cramping •Breathing difficulty (if large concentrations were swallowed) •Body aches •Burns in the mouth and throat •Eye burns •Seizures (rare) •Stomach swelling •Temporary white color to the skin •Vomiting Outlook (Prognosis) Most contact with household strength hydrogen peroxide is relatively harmless. Inappropriate exposure to industrial strength hydrogen peroxide can be dangerous. http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/002652.htm
