The fact is we got bases in 130 countries or so, helping a hell of alot of people get cheaper oil and all kinds of shit. VietMen was phosphorous, Serbia was cadmium, shall I go on ?

Our blood fuels the empire, and I think it's time that others chipped in. And what about those war debts. We could really use the money about now.

Three or four guns per owner?  Sounds way high...

Currently in my home there are 14 guns: 12 rifles/shotguns and 2 pistols. A third pistol is soon to be added.

Who needs a gun-shop?   An aspiring local gangster just needs to wait till you're all out so's he can get in, swipe the lot of them, and tool up his entire crew!   What's your address?

You assume that they are out freely to be had, they are safely locked away in a gun safe. Well except for the handguns and then those are with us 100% of the time.

Because when seconds matter the cops are minutes away. A lot of people have no clue that our police officers are under no obligation to put their life on the line to save ours.

Stricter gun laws do no stop violent crime as criminals do not abide by the laws. Only law abiding citizens abide by the laws. Gun free zones create the perfect environment for criminals to work because there is no one there to stop them.

I have obtained my GWL and I carry my sidearm where ever it is legal to do so. Sometimes in my purse, sometimes on my hip openly. Depends on what I am wearing that day. My husband also carries. We know that in the event that something should happen, we are prepared to protect ourselves, each other, our family and other citizens.

Amazing!

In two of your first four posts you have managed to include almost every gun cliche imaginable.

Congratulations.

I'll have to check but I think the NRA gives out a prize for things like this (I believe it's a shiny new gun).

Great! Do I get my pick?

Cliche as they may be, the fact remains it is still truth.

I'm not going to get into a debate about Brits' use of irony versus Americans' bafflement with it - so forget it.

Oh!! Irony! Well damn... leave it to an American, eh?

Mostly, I don't think you're either right or wrong, I just think you're the on other side of the Atlantic.

It boggles my mind that people that the burglar/rapist/crackhead/intruder are going to show up to cause bodlily harm and/or theft as the same time a police officer just happens to be what driving by? That is not a cliche, it is true, when seconds matter, police are minutes away.

Where I live it is considered part of what is called the Village Preservation area, and we don't even have a police force of our own, we rely on the the neighboring city of Rockland and they are about 12 miles away. So assuming I am the only call they get, and I am faced with an intruder kicking in my door or whatever scenario you want to pick, you think I have a minimum of 10 minutes to wait for the cops? Are you kidding me?

Oh and rule, I know you know this, I am a liberal, I abhor the NRA, I really think they suck, but I don't abhor my life or protecting my person, my animals, and yep my stuff. Would I should someone over stuff? Yes. So no thanks onn ay prizes from the NRA, the only prize I want is the right to protect myself, my home, and my loved ones.

Well of course.

They must be.

They are straight from the NRA and those fine folks have way too much integrity to spout useless and misleading propaganda slogans.

Hey, did they ever pry that gun out of Charlton Heston's cold dead hands?

When I said we are fearful and warmongering I was not accusing anyone else of saying it, I said it. Facts are facts. We are like the big kid in the schoolyard. I'm not sure if I mean we are simply not ready for total disarmament because we a new as a people or our government is not very experienced. For whatever reason, now is not the time. We don't like the idea of cameras on every streecorner and they don't make us safe.

If we don't have a gun and somebody downtown sees us getting robbed on one of those cameras, we have to wait for a police officer WITH A GUN to help us. My ass.

"Why do people cling so tightly to these beliefs, in the face of incontrovertible evidence that they are wrong? Why do they get so furiously angry when gun owners point out that their arguments are factually and logically incorrect? "

That's an excerpt from :

http://jpfo.org/filegen-n-z/ragingagainstselfdefense.htm

We don't need cameras on every corner, which don't do shit anyway. Tell a robber to wait until the cops come and see where that gets you. And if there are people around who will shoot me over a parking spot, no better way to solve that than to inject lead.

...the police are pretty quick in the town I live in- as well as the town I moved here from.

But then too- the neighbors know who is supposed to be here and who does not- and we do talk to eachother.

I don't know why America loves guns so much.I am one American that could careless about guns.It wouldnt hurt my feelings if most guns were banned here.I can understand wanting a gun for home protection or for hunting, but thats it.Too many Americans take it to an extreme. Is there really any reason AK-47 need to be legal?

Is there a reason it shouldn't? As long as it's semi-auto, not full, it's no more dangerous than my dad's old deer rifle, and there's no logical reason it should be any less legal. For the most part, a gun is a gun is a gun, regardless of what it looks like.

I don't know why America loves blondes so much. I am one American that could care less about blondes. It wouldn't hurt my feelings if most blondes were banned. I can understand wanting a blonde for a maid or a quick fuck, but that's it. Too many Americans take it to an extreme. Is there really any reason blondes need to be legal?

There you have hypocrisy at its absolute pinnacle. Nothing I can add to that.
