ORIGINAL: truckinslave "We already know that they are willing to lie about their data, hide it," Actually, willbe, thats the good part. The monitoring stations themselves, and especially the placement of them, not to mention the way the data from them is skewed, renders the data meaningless in terms of measuring the truly tiny amount of warming they claim. Whether they lie about it or not. AGW is more a religious sect to some, and a cash cow to others, than a science to anyone. And your a leading scientist, correct? Please verify your degrees, professor. Since a real scientist in this field, would clearly know more about the biology and chemisty then you. There are 'scientists' who, with proper incentive (aka wealth), will state completely false and misleading information as 'factual'. To which the modern conservative crowd eats it up, without ever checking to make sure what the person states is correct and factual. The result? Well, just read the posts by the conservatives on here; it really is that 'night/day-ish' difference. This has happen in each major political battle, in which science was at the forefront of the arguement. Evolution, Terry Shiavo, Climate Change, Abiogenesis, and a host of other scientific theories are argued by individuals who were paid to argue against the current and commonly understood theory (yes, a Scientific Theory is different from an 'everyday' theory). The conservative philosophy does not seem to acknowledge or care, if the person has been proved a quack/hack, as long as the person's viewpoint supports the conservative agenda. Climate Change, is simply to hard of a concept for most educated conservatives (those with higher then sixth grade but below tenth). The concept was 'dumb down', quite honestly, so those who lacked a real education (aka college), to keep up with the conversation. Unfortunately, by dumbing it down, the actual good information is lost in the translation. The change of a given area by just a few degrees of temperature can have profound and long lasting effect on the enviroment. I've quite honestly watched conservatives, taught this concept, time and again. Their reaction is usually the same: glassy eyes, open mouth, drool, and no real pulse. Asked later, they can not even explain what they just heard, stating 'its gobbly-gook nonsense by liberal, elitest, M.I.T. doctors, trying to tax us for more money'. This would be rather funny, if it weren't for these same individuals voting against the science when applied to goverment agencies and industries nation wide. Climate Change really is just to hard of a concept for modern conservatives to grasp. Read the previous posts on this and other threads on this forum. They display absolutely no knowledge of what they are bashing, and to prideful to admit their ignorance of the subject. In order to have a real, honest discussion, on science, one would have to eliminate 90% of the modern conservatives from the room/thread. The remaining 10% understand it; who do you think is supplying the other 90% the bad and misleading information in the first place? Why do they do so, is an even better question?
