Dozo yoroshiku onegaishimasu... this is the standard phrase to say in Japan when you're meeting someone for the first time. Basically, "Nice to meet you", but more literally it translates to "I humbly ask you to be kind to me". Thought it was fitting for my intro to Collarme.

Brief rundown on me: I'm currently living in northern Japan teaching English. I'm enjoying things quite a bit so far here in Nihon (been here about 5 months). I love reading, love traveling, just started learning kendo which is a blast, and I've got a soft spot for coffee and microbrews. And did I mention long walks on the beach...

I call the Pacific Northwest of the US 'home'. I've been involved with the local kink community there and miss it. I've ventured out into the community a bit here in Japan which has been interesting.

Just looking to meet some like-minded individuals right now and find a little diversion for when my brain is fried after trying to study Japanese (which I'm terrible at btw, so difficult!) Anyway, looking forward to making some new friends.

Cheers!

Arigato gozaimasu!
(but seriously, I'm terrible at Japanese, just thought yoroshiku was a fitting title for an intro)

In fact I'm so bad at Japanese that I misspelled "yoroshiku" for the subject. Urgh, I hate typos. Gomen nasai (I'm sorry)!

The extent of my Japanese is "domo arigato" and I know it means thank you very much.

Welcome to CM and the boards. Hang around, lurk, enter some good discussions as well as some silly ones, and everything in the middle. [:)]

YBS, I came close to saying it, but for some stupid reason I didn't, though I was sure as hell thinking about it. And dayum but I hated that song. [:D]

YoungBlondeSlave -> RE: Dozo yoroshikuo onegaishimasu (12/30/2010 4:12:02 PM)

i *LOVE* that song...and pretty much anything Styx.

Aside from that all i know is "Sake" and "Sushi". i'm rather worldly, as you can tell. [8D]

Welcome to CM.  ~humming: "If you knew Sushi..."~

My knowledge of Japan prior to arriving here was much the same: Mr. Roboto, sushi, sake, and samurai. I could say "konnichiwa" and that was about the extent of it. Needless to say, Japan is so, so much more than that!!! I've been brought up to speed in a hurry but I certainly have much more to learn... Definitely overwhelming at times! Ganbarimasu.

"Better learn balance. Balance is key. Balance good, karate good. Everything good. Balance bad, better pack up, go home." From that wise old sage, Mr. Miyagi.

AH lucky! I'd love to be able to be in Japan, although my Japanese is horrible and I'm still learning, I'd still like to be there!

He's our resident Mountain Man living in the wilds of B.C. chopping down da big trees, he doesn't get out to civilization very much. [:D][:D][:D][:D][:D]

ETA: The only channel he gets on TV is CBC and he's been watching too much Sesame Street again, Cookie Monster is his hero. [;)]

You're more than welcome. But please, call me Poohbear or Honeypaws, never was the tigger in the nic.

That's what Benny Hill used to say.
