oh yeh!
be very very scared!
I mean like really fucking scared!
OMG not a terrorist!

still singing that same old worn out tune.

forget that clinton sold nuke plans to china

forget that dubya put nuke plans up on world wide web until the new york times of all fucking things screamed to high hell of they were lunatics.

forget that china is popping off missles 35 miles off our shore because they are a bit irritated about how we fucked them over with bad debt.

seems people now days failed math and cant add 1 + 1 correctly.

you people are afraid of the wrong terrorists but then what do I know eh.,,

Tim McVeigh? Lord, I hope not. Not anytime soon, anyway. I'd really miss you.

Anyway, I thought you didn't believe in an afterlife?

Thank you, but nothing drastic will be necessary.

As for an afterlife, the most certain form requires high technology, which is beyond most humans - as well as beyond me - at the moment.

Failing that, I do notice that everything in our universe is cycled and recycled, and theologically I must extrapolate that principle to the human mind.

Also there does exist such a thing as ascension, as well as the (repeated) rebirth of parts of the mind in a living person, as well as my interpretation of one of the dreams of Riotgirl (I wonder how she is doing).

Finally, there were the actual rebirths of the pagan gods, which imply by theological extrapolation that the human mind (or parts of it) may indeed be reborn somewhere (and sometime) in our universe.

Your funny.

Damn right I am, Flco, but my ability to get women out of their panties by making them laugh has nothing to do with this. The incident you mentioned from a few months back is an excellent example of just how marginalized these groups have become. Of course, if brains were gunpowder, that bunch wouldn't have been able to fire a .25 anyway.

But let's keep it on topic, shall we? For purposes of the discussion, let's say radical domestic groups are the primary threat. Should there be more emphasis on educating the public at large in how to react if they are in the area of an attack on civilians?

flcouple2009 -> RE: In The Event Of A Terrorist Attack... (1/1/2011 8:36:31 AM)

As I said the FBI has a different opinion than you.  Who shall we listen to you or the FBI?  That's a really hard choice.  Should it be you?  Here's a clue,  NOT!

By your reasoning since the guy who failed setting off the car bomb in Times Square was a bumbling idiot there are no more threats from radical Islam.

The threats are the same today as they were yesterday and will be tomorrow.  Only a fool would believe otherwise.  The only thing that really changes is who is the most immediate threat.

And no we don't need repeats of goofy Ridge and his duct tape memos.  Remember if you scare the people enough it becomes much easier for things like the Patriot Act and TSA scanners.  Where the hell was that chemical attack ever coming from?

Since North Korea and Iran are on the nuclear band wagon do you wish to go back to teaching kids to hide under their desk when the siren goes off?

Sure, Flco. It isn't like I have a budget to justify or anything... And I never said there was no threat. I said the militia movement ceased to have any support among the population at large after the Oklahoma City bombing, rather than it being a tool of recruitment. The group you mentioned wanted to attack law enforcement, not the wider population, but they sure looked fish flopping around, out of the water to me.

Nice of you to come back towards the subject at hand. The sort of nuclear attack an Iran or North Korea might be able to achieve would certainly qualify for the scenario the editorial referred to. I think any education should be appropriate to our understanding of the threat and how incidents would be responded to. "Duck and cover," is SO 1950's, but making sure parents are aware that schoolchildren would shelter in place doesn't seem quite so stupid as you would like to make it.

flcouple2009 -> RE: In The Event Of A Terrorist Attack... (1/1/2011 12:16:52 PM)

Oh hiding under your desk during a nuclear attack was as stupid as you could get.  Kinda like Toma and his duct tape.

So threats are rated on who they wish to attack now?  Don't quite your day job.

Remember this, under ground never means gone.  People adapt and learn from watching others get busted.  It wasn't that long ago we pretty much ignored some guys living in mountain caves.  How did that work out?

TheHeretic -> RE: In The Event Of A Terrorist Attack... (1/1/2011 12:59:27 PM)

Actually, Flco, in the event of a nuclear/chemical weapon attack, duck tape seals on your house, or a room in the house could make the difference until the fallout/agent disperses, especially to those who would get it on the wind. Now getting under your desk, putting your head between your knees, and kissing your ass goodbye is as useless as it seems at ground zero, but flying glass is a big killer in disasters, and they still teach something not very different from "duck and cover" for earthquake survival.

You seem really confuzzled by the simple questions here. You keep brushing them as you pass on the way to the next snark. Did you read the linked article?

If you want to discuss whether the nuclear war drills of the Cold War served more to build fear, than to give people something to do besides have a screaming panic attack, go for it.

flcouple2009 -> RE: In The Event Of A Terrorist Attack... (1/1/2011 1:15:48 PM)

I got it, snark = anything you disagree with.

I thought it should be pretty obvious what I thought of the article.
