A panda cow.  http://www.reporterherald.com/news_story.asp?ID=30617

Just a cool, weird article.

He's a cutie. But $30,000 for a new housepet is a bit steep.

Cows are food, not friends.

By the way you got the recipe for panda soup ? I don't want to put in too much celery, you know how that can wreck it.

Same guidelines as the beef stew. Use a celery stalk to stir in the wine, and it's good.

How does one become a mini-cow aficionado?

No, ma'am, that would be most ungallant of me. A gentleman does not offer; a gentleman humbly and respectfully requests.

And Happy New Year to you guys, by the way!

You're on the right track.... American Beltie

While "miniature" animals may be cute, I'm not sure of the actual purpose of "teacup cattle". Will this be the next big (no pun intended) pet phase to hit Hollywood. Can you picture the likes of Paris Hilton carting around her tiny pet panda cow?

Interesting color pattern. Having grown up around cattle, I can state from personal observation that a panda like color pattern is seen but infrequently.

Now, If I were going to raise a rare breed, it would be the Park White; the breed that Henry VIII knighted as "Sir Loin of Beef" as it was so exceptional in taste. I've had a rib roast from a Park White only once, and the old musical bride fellow may have been right.

You don't see Park Whites raised for beef because the newer hybrids like the Angus are 14-18 months to marketable weight and legacy breeds like the Park white are 21-24 months to market weight. I rather laugh at the "Angus" craze going on lately. The Angus is a hybrid designed for rapid weight gain, not for flavor. In other words, it is cheaper stock to raise for market and not a "premium" meat. Of the current commercial breeds, the Charolais is more to my taste.. and, please, grass fed and not corn forced.

I eat less and less beef, but dang it, sometimes nothing satisfies like a prime rib or decent ribeye steak.

As soon as they figure out how to miniaturize elephants, i'm tossing my animal rights ethics out the window and getting one.
i bet those stunted cows are great for small acreage hobby farmers.

I want a mini giraffe like in that silly commercial.

But in cattle, I've always been fond of the Scottish Highlands. It's that shaggy fur.
