You've probably never deep-fried your hand and eaten it for breakfast then.

OP, that is very sad, but probably true since paper cuts and other types of physical pain can be cured and usually loneliness takes more work to heal.

It was and still is watching my pets get sick and need major amounts of money I didn't have, and then facing watching them get so sick, and eventually I had to step in an have the vets end it all for them when it became clear it was time to do so.

Well, I'm working without firsthand knowledge here, but I've never heard anything good about kidney stones. What I have heard though, are a lot of people who would never dream of using recreational drugs singing the praises of morphine, when they tell the story.

For me, it's about repetition of the same kind of emotion. A single instance of rejection or failure might hurt, but feeling like you're trying to progress forwards in all areas of your life and moving consistently backward for a long period of time... That sucks.
Losing a family member would suck. Losing another family member the next day and then another two months later would be worse.

I guess I'd define it as hopelessness or helplessness. feeling that no matter what you try to do, your situation will stay the same or get worse because you have no power to make it better.

for physical pain, according to everyone I've talked to... GALLSTONES.

For physical pain, I'm going with childbirth.

Emotional pain, I'd say death of a child.  Today happens to be the anniversary of My brother's death.  It happened January 2, 1980.  I watched the hell they went through with their grief and I don't think anything compares to that.

Agree with the emotional, but for me childbirth hurt a lot less than getting my back piece did.

There are a lot of different kinds of mental pain, each one worse than the next.  I once had a live-in girlfriend go to work on my birthday and then didn't come home because she ran off with her boss.  That didn't feel good.  And had my dad die of a heart attack while we were out for a bicycle ride.  No kind of mental pain feels good.

As far as physical pain, I've had various things from kidney stones to broken bones, but the worst pain I ever had was when a horse threw me and ruptured my spleen.  It was six hours before they got me into surgery, and by that time I just wanted them to knock me out and I didn't care whether I woke up again or not.

I never get too emotionally attached to women in relationships to truly know heartbreak. The concept of it seems silly to me, but we're all different.

To me, the worst pain or feeling has got to be failure. I like to do school and such with utmost perfection (or what I perceive perfection as) and to be met with lackluster results in my mind takes a toll on me.

Sure seems like the greatest pain in the world when you're experiencing it. Hard to imagine anything worse.
