ORIGINAL: FirmhandKY This is frigging hilarious: A Germany company has found a use for all of those incandescent light bulbs that can no longer be sold in the EU: they aren't light bulbs, they are very efficient heating devices! Heatballs (in the original German) Heatballs (the Google translation). Yeah it would be fucking hilarious if I did not know the cycle of energy needed to generate most electric. We burn a fossil fuel to HEAT WATER to create steam to turn a turbine that spins a magneto to generate electricity. If the end result of that cycle, is heat generation, you've wasted energy, period end of statement. The cycle is somewhat mitigated if it is hydro electric, or nuclear. Creating heat with electric though, generally equals horrid waste. So .... we should just burn wood around a campfire, and maximize the efficiencies of nature, and minimize the waste of humanity? After all, a campfire will provide light, heat, and a cooking method, all at the same time, won't it? As well as return the carbon to the natural cycle of life, ready to be used by other plants. Firm
