My mother flipped when I recently filled her in on my predilictions in a relationship... As far as I know, I'm the only member of my family that I have ever met that is even the slightest bit interested in anything bd/sm... granted, I am more interested in the sadism myself, but hey, the rest just intensifies that craving inside of me... shrug

well, my mother was very strict ,and Dad well he was easy going. watching their interactions was very well, to put it mildly "interesting" im still afraid of my mother to this day and im 33! lol. Although its more so my personality that influenced me more then my parents in some cases, because there are arguements in Sociology that personality is genetic, with influences through parental guidance, or lack of in some cases. i tend to beleive that arguement more so then the purely sociologial shaping of personality. but thats besides the point. my mother was very strict and the memories of her using objects like garden hoses, hangers and extention cords kinda made an impression. LMAO[:D]

My mother was an insecure, manipulative, demanding woman who pretended that dad was the head of the household until he made a decision that didn't suit her. As I grew up I was very submissive to my mother. Rarely fighting her, but always resisting her ideologies. When interacting with her, you had to say what she wanted to hear, in the tone of voice she wanted, with the facial expression that she wanted or there was hell to pay. When I first discovered this lifestyle 17 years ago, I'd met a man who quickly became a close friend. We could talk about anything and he would encourage me to have ideas and opinions... He inspired my submission and gave me the structure I needed all my life. I willingly served him, and adored him for making it possible. After we'd been together a couple of years, he said "you've got dominance in you girl" I freaked. He slowly began to teach me that expressing personal power is a good thing if you take responsibility for yourself and whoever you control. When he died in a car accident, I left the lifestyle for a while... I fell apart. I couldn't sub to anyone! I couldn't Dominate anyone... what if I turned out like my mom? Slowly I began to get back into the lifestyle, and I'm 85-95% Dominant, and I do use my mother's example... of what NOT to do. Lady Kathryn Athens, Ga.

As far as I know I am the only member of my family that even has a clue what BDSM is! Neither of my parents had ever had their lives together enough to know or admit what they are. I do have one sister however, that left Iowa with her Menonite offshoot inlaws ( very very male dominated group ) and is rarely heard from because ALL of the rest of us are living lives of sin and evil. The women do not wear make-up, pants, or cut their hair. Many of the children are home schooled to avoid the evil influences like tv and computers and books like Harry Potter. I sincerely doubt that is a BDSM lifestyle more of a "all men are superior in gods eyes so you better kiss my ass or else" type lifestyle. Hey...isn't that something like gor??? KIDDINGGGGG!!! To each their own I say!

The idea i have about my mom/dad is whole vanilla, or at least i think so... i read somewhere that only a 10% of people are fond to BDSM stuff, but i resist to consider me a rare avis, so perhaps a lot of people are hidding their kinks so my parents were....

My mother was very similar to this save one way... she wasn't happy with anything around her & the whole house was painfully aware of this at all times. My parents did influence me, but not as far as dominance is concerned. I do not believe we are 'influenced' to be dom or sub. I am a firm believer that a person in regards to this way is this way of life & relationship structure is naturally wired to be dominant or submissive. No amount of influence, study or teaching will make one dom or sub. The influence I gained from my parents was along the lines as foundations in life skills, morals & beliefs. From that foundation I was able to grow in directions far different from them. I read somewhere that studies show that children tend to go in opposite directions from their parents in many ways. The piece I read spoke about the Gen X kids, born primarily from the "hippy-peace loving yuppies" were far more conservative.

Dad is definately the boss of the household. Though my mom always has an input, dads word has always been law. I am not sure if the way they interacted swayed me or not, but I respect what they have. un--------

My father always had a presence, he walked into a room and dominated it , i think that was just charisma,, but my mother was the incredibly strong manipulative and demanding.. in truth i think they were kind of mismatched , there were always fireworks when Mum tried to push the bounds. but everyone followed the rules ... even Mum sooner or later. He didnt raise his voice or yell or scream,, but if you misbehaved the sense of shame that would result was almost too much to bear, the dissappointed look and being ignored was way ,way more motivational than any screaming matches . funny that,, kendra......................... freedom through submission.....

No, I was not raised in any authority dynamic based household. My parents lives did affect and influence who I am greatly though.

Both My parents had Dominant Personalties that's why they had the marriage annuled... I'm about 100% positive My mother wasn't part of the Lifestyle but I heard through My ex that one of My stepmothers told her that he liked to spank her... I had almost no contact with him growing up so I know he didn't influence Me... I must've got both My parents Dominant streaks as I was Constantly locking asses W/My mother... I've been told by several different people that My Dominant attitude is really apparent... When I walk into a room, they tell Me it's obvious I'm there to take charge & everyone else sees it to!!!

Very much the same in My childhood household... My Dad, being much older (20 years) than My mom, His word was always the last one, but mom still had some input on it... it was the epitomy of the 1950's type relationship, though I was raised in the 70's thru the 90's. It very much affected the way I view things such as relationships with men and women, and everyday life in general, and folks say that I'm the spitting image of My Father in almost all ways.. and as he's always been a highly liked and well respected man to everyone he's known, I'm proud to be a "mini-me"..lol that being said... so far as I know, they haven't a clue as to what BDSM even is, letalone there is even a life revolving around it... they do know I am a bit different, as are the girls I've brought home that are always so nice and respectful to them... but I think they use the "don't ask, don't tell" method and just let it go, since it seems to work well and everyone is happy. My siblings both know about My lifestyle choice, however, and though they are also very dominant in their lives... they just can't get into the "swing" of things, per se, when it comes to living this or even dabbling in it... though its always great fun to good naturedly tease Little Brother and His girls about being "freaks"... hahaha T.R. and beth

I found out purely by accident about the time I was just begining to explore BDSM that my mom was somewhat also exploring. It was rather odd at first, but I couldn't stay away and ended up in much deeper and farther than she ever took it. She never came out and said she was submissive, but I believe that she is and she is fully aware that I am.

My mom n dad are equals I think. The woman who raised me on the other hand is definitely dominant but she doesn't know it's a lifestyle and this lifestyle is rather unknown here

I've always observed D/s within relationships, granting most of the time (60-70%) it is with the men in the dominant/controlling role. In my home, everyone thought my father was the supreme ruler, but I would say my mom played the goddess/dominant/controlling role pretty well; at best my father was a service top. I would say I learned mom's expectations/dominance and dad's consideration/kindness. M

Lorgrom grew-up with a submissive mother who eventualy married her Dominate. While Miskel's parents are more equils (though when her dad says things are going to be a certian way they are).
