Aylee -> Long Form (1/5/2011 11:41:19 AM)

Okay, I am just going to have to admit that I have no clue on this.

What is a "long form" birth certificate?

The talk about Obama's birth certificate keeps bringing this up.  I have looked at the online photo.  It looks a lot like my "Certificate of Live Birth."  (Which is different from the hospital birth certificate.)

However, this is apparently the "short form."

What is the "long form?"

tazzygirl -> RE: Long Form (1/5/2011 11:57:35 AM)

The "Long form" everyone is demanding is actually the original copy of the BC that some states used to issue upon birth.

From the SC site...

Birth Records Available: The State Office of Vital Records located at DHEC, 2600 Bull Street, Columbia, South Carolina issues two types of birth certifications: (1) a short form certification (birth card) and (2) a long form photocopy. The birth card is a wallet-size certification that contains the birth certificate number, the name of the person whose certificate is being issued, the date of birth, sex, the county of birth, and the date the birth was filed. The long form (photocopy) is a copy of the birth certificate contained in the active files of the Division of Vital Records. Certified photocopies can ONLY be issued at the State Office location.

In some states and countries, there are two types of birth certificates. A long-form birth certificate is the copy of the actual certificate of birth on file with the locality where the birth took place. The short-form birth certificate is a notarized document stating that the long form certificate exists and is on file.

There are many different forms of birth records available, including a long form, a short form and other less common forms. Each contains different information and is made up of its own format. The form you choose will depend on how you plan on using your birth record.
A long form can also be known as a book copy, a certified photocopy and a Photostat copy. A long form offers an exact picture copy of the original birth certificate that was presented to the parents when their child was born. Information listed on the long form includes the birth date and birth place as well as information about the parents and doctor. The long form will also contain the doctor’s signature as well as the signature of one of the child’s parents. It’s likely that in the future, these long form records will be the primary birth records and will be put in to a database, called an Electronic Birth Registration System, so that they’re easier to access. As a result, hard copies of birth records will most likely turn in to electric versions, which will eliminate the extra fee that is charged when a person wants a long form birth record.
A short form birth record is called a computer certification and is used less often than a long form birth record. Unlike long form birth records, short form birth records are available through the computer and cost less than hard copies. Short form records contain more basic information than long form birth records and are often used by those who need their birth records in a hurry because they’re easy to access.
Lastly, the other forms appear to be just like birth records but are actually not legal. These forms are basically commemorative versions of the birth certificate and include things like the footprints of a baby right after they were born. Though people assume that these forms of birth records count as legal documentation of a child’s birth, they do not.

FR

As far as I know my HOSPITAL ISSUED certificate, (issued in 1958, in Pennsylvania) complete with mom's and dad's thumb prints and my ittie bittie footie prints was considered "legal" enough to allow me to join the US Air Force in 1977 (actually Dec 1976 for "delayed enlistment").  Somewhere during the next 24 years something happened (can we say 9-11-2001......I knew you could) that caused all states and governmental agencies to declare that no longer valid.

In order to renew my New Jersey Drivers License in 2007 that particular document was rejected, so I stopped driving for a few months and in Jan 2008 went to Philadelphia and the "state building" there to apply for the state issued form, I was fortunate to get it for free because I was a "veteran", other wise I was looking at 18 bucks for a fucking piece of paper.  As I mentioned elsewhere this state issued document looks very similar to what the state of Hawaii has released.

P.S.    The issue date on the state certificate says Jan 2008, roughly 49 years and 10 months after I was born, so there goes the horseshit argument about the July 2007 date on the Hawaii form, down the crapper.  You fucking retard birthers want more abuse????

Real0ne -> RE: Long Form (1/5/2011 4:27:32 PM)

I hope you did it in trust, if not they do own you now.  You can find it as a security on the stock market.  look up the dtc, thats who owns it now.

Termyn8or -> RE: Long Form (1/6/2011 1:12:39 AM)

Impossible. Anyone can get anyone's birth certificate (short) with the barcode on it. All you need is Parent's names and place of birth. Did it more than once. In fact at one time we sent one person down there to get more than one. So the trust does not matter. I could get your short birth certificate for you, that would not sell you out. In fact now that you mention it I didn't get mine, I sent someone else.

Aylee -> RE: Long Form (1/6/2011 3:35:23 AM)

Before your paranoia goes crazy, my hospital birth certificate was enough to join the military in the 90's, however to get my learner's permit for driving, I had to have a copy of my Certificate of Live Birth (four years earlier my sister did not).  It is unlikely that 9-11 had anything to do with your troubles.

And I am not a "birther" I just saw "long form" referenced again in a thread and thought that I would ask about it.

Thanks Tazzy.

I am from a state that did not have wallet cards so I have had no clue what is was that people keep demanding.

tazzygirl -> RE: Long Form (1/6/2011 5:47:31 AM)

Unfortunately, Aylee, most people dont know what it is they keep demanding... they just keep repeating what others tell them to demand.

SL4V3M4YB3 -> RE: Long Form (1/6/2011 6:53:58 AM)

The long form contains your GUID.

Without this you'll never be able to register yourself, without others saying you are an illegal and irresponsible entity that could damage society.

tazzygirl -> RE: Long Form (1/6/2011 7:03:18 AM)

Guess im not legal then.

SL4V3M4YB3 -> RE: Long Form (1/6/2011 7:18:11 AM)

Don't worry there is a lot of people in your very position but the good news is your can get yourself a replacement GUID for a small fee...

Since the issue is Obama's "long form" birth certificate, here's a link to an image comparison between the 1961 Hawaii "Certificate of Live Birth" (long form) issued to one of Eleanor Nordyke's twin daughters who were born at Kapiolani Maternity & Gynecological Hospital in Honolulu the day after Obama was born and the latest version (of at least three desparate versions) of Obama's 2007 Hawaii "Certification of Live Birth" -- http://www.biasedmediaboycott.com/index.php?topic=80.0

Notes:

1) Until mid-2009 the Department of Hawaii Home Lands ("DHHL") did not consider and would not accept a Hawaii "Certification of Live Birth" (short form) as prima-facie (bonafied and sufficient) evidence of being a native born Hawaiian but, rather, only a Hawaii "Certificate of Live Birth" (long form);

2) As of this date no Hawaiian official has verified the authenticity of Obama's "Certification of Live Birth" (short form), that it was produced by the Hawaii Department of Health or that Obama ever requested it;

3) In his book "Dreams From My Father" Obama mentions finding, during his high school years, his birth certificate inside a folded up newspaper article about his father -- that could only have been a copy of his "Certificate of Live Birth" (long form).

"The only people who don't want to disclose the truth are people with something to hide." -- Barack Hussein Obama

The DHHL manages land held in trust for native hawaiians. It requires proof of descent from native hawaiians. That is quite distinct from using a birth certificate to prove place of birth and therefore citizenship.

So?

Why are you even bothering attempting to reason with RacistJim?  You might as well be talking to a parsnip.

tazzygirl -> RE: Long Form (1/6/2011 11:15:55 AM)

As i said before, there is a distinct difference between the Certificate of Live Birth and the Certification of Live Birth... and they dont even know what they are asking for.

pogo4pres -> RE: Long Form (1/6/2011 11:54:22 AM)

Wasn't specifically referring to you, Aylee, when I mentioned the birther crowd,  I took your question at face value and figured that you were just curious.

Prior to 9-11 New Jersey would let you use your previous drivers license as proof enough for renewal, after 9-11 though when something like 12 of the 19 hijackers had either forged, or legit "old style" paper NJ licenses, my lovely home state in a panic created  a new and burdensome  process where you not only need your old license you've got to show your birth certificate as well.

All this was done in the name of "fighting terrorism", which is laughable at best, as it will do essentially NOTHING to prevent further terrorism.

Aylee -> RE: Long Form (1/6/2011 12:33:56 PM)

That seems completely senseless as wouldn't you have had to show your certificate to get the license originally?  Who comes up with these idead?

Who came up with it?? AFIK, the NJ state legislature and the governor of the day one Jim McGreedy (as we who live here fondly called him) simultaneously spawned the idea from their feeble brains..

NJ btw, was the LAST STATE to have a non-picture drivers license in the nation.  I liked that as I have other forms of picture ID.  Alas, the geniuses in Trenton decided to act, and as usual they fucked up.
