Status: offline 		Hardly. Sanitation trucks get snow plows attached to them and garbage collection stops until after all snow removal is finished. Sanitation Commissioner issued a statement last week explaining how collection will work and when they'll be back to normal. Nothing new here except this was a particularly bad storm so it took longer than normal to dig out the blocked streets and cars abandoned in the snow.

Snow removal always comes first. Mayor Lindsay in the early 70's didn't make it a priority and was speedily voted out because of that. Mayors ever since first work on snow plowing, garbage will be caught up inside of two weeks.

Status: offline 		And they said it would take a full two weeks to catch up. This is normal for NYC, that's what you don't understand. Garbage collection stops every time it snows. Everybody gripes about it but if you've lived there, you know this is how it goes.
