1Owner1pet -> Where can I learn to be a better owner/master? (1/6/2011 8:47:04 PM)

I am trying find places that I can find more ideas on how to play with my pet? I also would to learn how to do rope play and the best way to go about it? What things other safty do I need to know to make ropeing a grand experieance for my pet?

I'd find munches and play groups in your area. From there seek out people who are very experienced with rope. They will be able to physically look at your pet and give more information. From my understanding how you bind and suspend (if you are into that part) has to do with size and weight as well.

Also, they will be able to talk to you and her about any old injuries, safety concerns that are specific to her, etc. And give you hands-on demonstrations. Just remember to be thankful (and perhaps provide cookies!) to the people who take time out of their lives to help. That will also go a long way in getting people to introduce you to others who can help make your rope experiences grand.

And oh can they get grand. Some bindings are pure art, I swear...

There are groups in the Cities, if you're willing to make the trip, that do demonstrations and educational events. There are others closer to your area as well, including people with years of experience. Do some looking and you'll find people

i agree with the others -- seek out your local community and get involved in educational events. even if playing in public isn't your thing, you can go to demos and parties just to learn and socialize with others.
talking with other Masters might give you some insights on what you want from your own relationship. you can pick up new ideas, or new ideas about OLD ideas. =p

there are lots of great books on rope bondage; Douglas Kent's "Land" and "Air" books are pretty popular. "The Seductive Art of Japanese Bondage" by Midori, "Bondage for Sex" by Chanta Rose, to name a few, more. plus if you're looking to travel around, Shibaricon is a ginormous rope event held in Chicago every year.

To begin, the safety bible on this is Jay Wiseman's Erotic Bondage. Buy at amazon. You can find youtube videos by the Two Knotty Boys. www.kinkyropes.com has some educational materials.

Nothing around the neck. The smaller the part of the body, the less time it can be tied. Nipples, fingers, toes about 15 - 20 minutes max. You want to wrap the rope around the wrist or ankle several times, the more wraps the less the pressure on any one wrap. You also want to have space for two of your fingers inside the wrap, that's enough that she can't get free but her blood can circulate. Touch her skin frequently, if it's getting cold or there's color change then it's time to untie. If she complains it's going numb, undo it.

Most of all, don't copy what you see in porn. Those shots are faked. You cannot suspend a woman by her breasts no matter how many movies you see with that.And don't play with suspension at all unless you know a good rigger who will teach you.

There have been some great suggestions so far, but I feel that one of the best
locations to visit, and one that's too often overlooked, is her mind.
Getting inside her head and learning what makes her tick will be your most valuable resource.

Simple bondage is easily learned. Beyond that, is that you need to be someone worth submitting to. Which means making good decisions, thinking out the impact your orders on her will have, and keeping your word. If you applaud her one day for making you coffee unasked but yell at her the next for doing so without waiting for your order, then you've taught her that you aren't trustworthy. She isn't a mind reader, you need to be clear in what you want.

Google "bdsm group" and your city's name. You should be able to find a group, and via them you could most likely find some people to help you. Also, there are annual events in many cities where you can go and take hands on workshops. Some of the people who give those workshops are on these boards.

best wishes and good luck,
sunshine
