FatDomDaddy -> The Real Hero of the "golden voice" Story (1/7/2011 8:01:41 PM)

Legally blind, forced onto welfare and her children and his crack addicted children, along with the help of her family lest they be sent into a foster system, never knowing their sisters.

Let's hope Kraft Foods, The NFL, The NBA and NBC send his paycheck to pay off back child support and to compensate the other victims the crimes that this "seems" like a nice guy has committed for over two decades.

BTW...where is this "other" woman who by all accounts has been his homeless companion and crime and hustling partner... did altruistic NBC just leave her under the bridge when they whisked Ted Williams off for his haircut and Today Show date. I guess she doesn't clean up as well.  .

Only in America can a homeless guy go from sleeping on a park bench one day,to becoming a national celebrity the next.He probaly has an interesting past. You dont wind up homeless the way he did by being "Saint".I guess the moral of the story is,well, anything can and does happen in America.

Sadly, this time I think you are right.

I think there was a lot of hand wringing guilt and feel good style over substance that led to the viral aspects of this story. There was also some lazy reporting, actually lazy non reporting from The Columbus Dispatch who broke this story. A simple call to the Columbus PD would have given a full picture to this story.

THAT SAID...

It is my sincere prayer that this man will take this tremendous gift God has laid before this man to work steps 8 and 9 and find his recovery and redemption.

I am just not going to hold my breath waiting for it to happen.

VioletGray -> RE: The Real Hero of the "golden voice" Story (1/8/2011 8:48:47 AM)

We've already established that his past sucked goat balls. That he's done things that he's not proud of. It's a great story because now he has the chance to make things right again. He seems at least to have a new found sense of purpose and spirituality, let's hope that part of his redemption will be to compensate his wife in some way.

Louve00 -> RE: The Real Hero of the "golden voice" Story (1/8/2011 10:53:37 AM)

I feel the same way, Violet.  He has never hidden his past...or the fact that his addictions were the reason he lost the opportunity to use his 'golden voice'.  Not to mention he did lose his family and his children.  That a reporter saw fit to read his sign and dare him to show off his "God given gift of voice", now clumps him in the pile of lazy reporters, too.  Some people just aren't very happy people.

Have heart and faith, unhappy people!!  All this sudden fame and a chance for redemption may yet be squandered if he falls back to his demons.  Keep believing!  Karma will catch up with you all!!  [8|]

(for those who like to pounce on just...anything...this was my brand of sarcasm.  I actually hope that Ted Williams has learned from his mistakes and makes good with his second chance!!)

Now wait a minute.... Oh wait, I think I should be complimented here. [:D][:D] It is ironic that in my profession I actually do work with the homeless population and know the struggles and difficulties they go through on a daily basis.

I'm surprisesd that Fox hasn't hired him to host a talk show. I mean he's got all of Rush and Beck's qualificdations in one package with a better voice.
