How many Dom/mes wear collars during play and in their vanilla life? I love collars and always have and I also live an outward life where my vanilla life isn't apart from this life. I do not care what others think about who I am. Even if your collar is subtle to fit your vanilla life, how many of you do wear them?

Another question, if you DO wear collars, do you only wear them when you own a Sub/Slave or do you take it off should the relationship end?

I should also add that I am Goth so my collars have been worn more as jewlery than anything.

I have to say that while I find great joy in screwing with "protocol" in all its many forms, I somehow think that you've missed the point of a collar.

Val does not wear a collar. He really doesn't wear any jewelry beyond his wedding ring.

I, personally, don't have an issue with it (beyond that men wearing choker style jewelry is not attractive to me). I also don't have a big attachment to the idea of "collar = submission". The most vanilla people I've ever known, and the most ardent female feminist who opposed male led power dynamics, wore collars of various varieties. Including some from the pet store complete with little bells.

They literally mean beans to me till the person wearing it tells me the meaning behind it. I will probably make a "ok, more likely than not that they are a sub/slave" if I'm specifically at a kink event but that's about it. Outside of them I'm actually more likely to assume that they are completely vanilla and just wearing it as a fashion piece.

I suppose it's all in how you look at it. My collar is not a collar by stereotypical standards. Therefore a collar - to me - is piece of jewelry that symbolizes ownership of whatever style. Since it could be anything to me, I don't see a bit of leather with a strap as inherently a symbol of ownership when out and about. The diamond drop pendant could be someone's collar or it could be a tribute.

We are an active part of a subculture where collars dont have anything to do with the lifestyle so yes at times we both may be wearing a cllar. I recently suprised him with a set of his and her personalized dog tags and we both wear them daily. A piece of jewlrey doesn't MAKE someone a submissive.

I come from a hedonistic rather than protocol perspective, but to me collars /= Dom/me.

I know the reason for a collar is to show ownership of a Sub. The Sub wears it to show they are in fact owned by a Dom/me much like awedding ring in a marriage. Perhaps my uestion isn't worded correctly causing confusion. I have hard (though rare) that some Dom/mes wear collars to show their authority, to show that they do own a Sub. I kow his is NOT common practice but it is out there. I was wonderng more on whether or not Dom/mes wear them as jewlery or to complete an outfit?

Being a Goth myself, I have always worn collars and cannot bring myself to stop just because of my BDSM lifestyle and with being a Domme. Though I understand it is the Sub who wears one to show they are owned by me, I still love the feeing and look of a collar on myself.

In My experience, what you have heard (I believe that is what you meant, rather than the word hard) is probably incorrect.  I can not attest to any Dominant women that I know personally who wear collars as fashion accessories.

This.

I cannot stand anything even touching my neck with any pressure. Turtlenecks tops are not even in my wardrobe.

Don't be sorry to Me, Hill.  We're in agreement.  The gender of the Dominant doesn't have much to do with it.

My Alpha wears a collar, but we have a slightly different dynamic than other M/s couples, because we're a dog pack.  He's my guard dog, so I put a formal collar on him (that is really just a necklace with dog tags), and when we go out he often wears a spiked leather collar.  They do not lock on, and never will, but they aren't fashion accessories by any means.  Mine, on the other hand, carries a lock as a pendant right now, and will eventually be permanently locked on.
