AAkasha -> Sexual tension between the hero and villainess (1/12/2011 9:52:44 AM)

I saw a news report yesterday that they were casting two female leads for the next Batman movie, and one of the women would be a "villain." Without blinking an eye, my mind started to drift toward hopes of seeing a christian bale in some bondage predicament with sexual tension oozing as a gorgeous, sadistic she-villain pondered that maybe he was too pretty to dispose of.

(Personally, Christian Bale doesn't really push many of my predatory femdom buttons, but something about this picture from Rescue Dawn has always led me to hold out hope: http://ropermike.com/trouble/images/Rescue-Dawn/Rescue-Dawn-1597.jpg)

I was just a kid when the Batman TV show with Adam West was on, but I watched the reruns religiously, and I recall the sparks between Batman and Catwoman. Or, at least I projected it, it's hard to say.

What is it about the tension between hero and villain? Do you see it, when it isn't even there?

Well with Bat and Cat you are spot on - the sparks are definitely there though I would say that she is a switch and he a dom with a pole up his ass who can't bend an inch. I'd say a great deal of her fascination with him comes not from being able to tie him up but that he can restrain and defeat her, making him unique and interesting.

As for myself... I'm not really into hero/villain tension. I get into Bat and Cat because she's not really a villain. She's a feline, obsessed with the hunt but is quite willing to switch sides when Bruce pulls the pole out of his nicely toned butt to meet her partway in making things work. As she put in a Birds of Prey comic "Our arrangement works when he wants it to work".

Ok... /end geek rambling. [:D]

While the hero/villain thing isn't for me, I get it. I just tend to favor different dynamics in the hero world.

Well, it seems to be kind of THE point for all of Batman's series. I mean, even the joker gets pretty yaoi with Batman every once in a while, OF COURSE it is there.

However, yes, I do find it everywhere:
Dylan in Charlie's angels is always falling in love with the bad guy.
Hey, remember Elizabeth Hurley in that movie...?
Poison Ivy???

It is not only with girls:
Itachi and Naruto, in Shippuuden...
Light and L get a little too close...

It's everywhere, really. I've spent my entire life noticing things like that. Turn on the TV, and it is there. Read a book, there it is. Hell, even if you look out the window, it's going to be there.

There is some truly awesome (and truly horrific) fanfiction about Light and L.  Some of it's pretty hot.

Me, I always figured it to be Batman and Robin.  I mean, come on....an older man with a younger "ward" whom he dresses up in skintight rubber and latex, and they go running around the city in their underwear looking for other people in fetish outfits.....yeah.  That's all I'm sayin'.

Shitloads of it.  I don't have any current links as I never saved any of it, but I don't imagine it would be difficult to Google for.  Some of it's actually pretty hot. Some of it....well, it's just silly, or bad.  But that's the nature of fanfic.

Eh, I always thought that Poison Ivy would be more along the domme bent. She did manage to seduce Robin in one movie, remember.

Hmmmm. This is Christian Bale we're talking about. He's an amazing actor, who's earned some serious cred for his ability to torture himself into some amazing places. Which makes me think that a thread inspired by him should be -- I'm not sure what to call it -- self-bottoming from the top?

No, yeah! I get you! And that's alarmingly close to a blindfold, too!
