ORIGINAL: BitaTruble Time to come out of the closet. I play AD&D 2nd edition. I know, I know. It's really not all that bad but I also sew costumes and items for the players to wear or use while we play. I just finished a druids cape for my grandson's birthday and am working on Hewards Handy Haversack for a fighter/wizard character in a campaign I'm planning for a new psionic that my daughter just built. I have made outfits for Elvish archers, paladins and other cleric characters. I even made a pair of elven boots once. I corrupted my children from a young age and my oldest grandson makes the third generation DnDer now. I went to JoAnn Fabrics today and bought 10 new patterns including a replica of a 1540 - 1550 noble lady costume and asked my son if he would give me experience points if I made it. He said yes. :D 26 total yards of material.. I had *better* level up. [:D] Actually, i think you're incredibly cool. After watching my friends game, i wondered whether children would benefit from being taught role-playing games in math and social study classes, etc. i have never met a gamer family that had undue amounts of strife amongst it's members--so it seems like a positive thing to me. And i very much wish i had your level of sewing ability. i can do a few binding stitches, i can piece quilt blocks without much finesse and i can embroider like a ham-fisted dockworker, but that's as far as i've got in that arena.
