I love spiders. Have since I was a small child. Right now, there is a spider living in my shower stall & I talk to it while I shower.

I forgot one... I'm always counting. Multiplying, dividing numbers, counting by 7s or 13s or such. I get bored easily - this relieves the boredom.

Also, I cannot even look at a mushroom or have one touch any food on my plate. If I order dinner in a restaurant and I say no mushrooms and I see even one, I flip out.

Same thing with raisins.

Well, the mushroom thing doesn't make sense, but raisins? Oh yes, they're just creepy.

*shudder* I cant stand spiders...I can tolerate the ones with the thin long legs, if they are in a corner or under the sink in the bathroom, but if they are near me they will be squashed and if they are near my cats they will be eaten....

In my previous flat I would have never stayed for over 3 years if I would not have had my defense mechanism of cats with me...in particular pepper was good in hunting them down...(though I think that sometimes she also brought them inside )

Anyhow, spiders?

I also used to have the habbit to count the steps when I go upstairs or downstairs.... but I trained myself off that habbit

I get a sense of dread and panic every time I hear the doorbell ring. Even though it has been over a decade since I really had to worry about who might be at the door.

I will order most of my household needs online, and send my son grocery shopping for me, so I do not have to leave my home for months at a time.

Every six months I have a strong compulsion to move. I move the furniture around in my home a lot because of this - it helps control the compulsion to pack up and run away.

If I acquire too many things, I get rid of them, because I feel like I'm losing control over my environment. Which is another reason I like to move. I get to start out fresh, with minimal 'things' and regain control of my environment. Even though by anyone elses standards I already HAD control.

Whenever I buy something new, or are given a gift I have to re-arrange things in my home, before I'm comfortable that the new element 'fits in'.

All of the clothes in my closet must face the same direction. And they are sorted by style & type & then by color. That way when I am looking for a short-sleeved black shirt, I can just put my hand on it. Once I've taken something off a hanger, the hanger has to be put with all the other empty ones.

If I don't get to fold the laundry right out of the dryer, I have to put it back in the washer & start over. I can't stand wrinkles, not even in my sheets & towels.

I am extreamly picky about how my boos are handled I don't bend or break the spine or dog ear the pages or leave them open like a tent. I won't loan my books to others either cause most people will not be anal in not breaking the spine an stuff.

My sandwiches have to be symmetrical. The bread slices have to match up and the ingredients can't hang out over the edge. Round baloney on square bread will make me crazy, I have to trim the round edges off and put them on the inside.

Yes, I know it's bologna, I just like spelling it the other way.

This.  All of my friends know you just don't stop over at my house without warning.  Its as bad as i probably won't answer the door.  They need to call me when they are parking so i know who is knocking.    I always MUST brush my teeth prior to getting in the shower no matter what time i am showering, and i always have to start the shower running while i am brushing my teeth.  My toe nails can never grow longer than the top of my toe - not even a little bit, i have been known to cut them too far down because of this.

I too am an obsessive counter. I'll stand outside on the porch and count the cars going by, separating them in my mind into percentages of german, american and japanese cars. I'll not buy a Subaru, by the way. At least not here in Salt Lake City. Truly 11% of cars that goes by the house is a damned Subaru, 75%ish, green outbacks. If I ever rob a bank here, I'll first steal one of those too, for a getaway car. Make it damned hard to track me down.

>.> I guess that's an odd quirk too. I actually think and plan things like bank robberies. Of course, I'm not going to DO it, because it's just too much work and effort. I'm tired and want to just relax on my days off. ;)

fixed your typo

and I can relate to that....I was furious about my brother when I posted him the 5th Harry Potter book from Ireland after I had finished it and then got it back dirty and without the wrapping around it which I had posted him as well...he claiming he would have gotten it in that stage.

I was even more furious when I discovered that he also had the book Number 3 from that serie from me without my knowledge and gave it back in such a stage.

some years ago I sold many books on ebay as I needed money in fast and my mom knows I don't neglect books in such a way but her spoilt son got away with his bad behaviour...thats where he and I are very different, if I know I damaged an item then I replace it with a new one or at least offer to do so and don't pretend as if nothing would have happened.

That also annoyed me when I borrowed a class mate in my 2nd qualification hand puppets which I made with my childrens home group (the kids could chose to keep theirs after a performance with them or give it to me if they don't want to keep it) so that she could use them for a performance for the birthday from her husband...returning some of them in a pretty dirty condition and then not even apologising for it.

I hate it when folks take the piss like that.

Most of the time I was fine with that back home, however over here I had once a friend who somehow didn't grasp that crossing the line ain't something I would call manners.

I ignored her using the phone and the doorbell that day as I was just in a mood where I didn't want to be visited, I just wanted my peace...instead of just accepting that she then came towards my patio door through the garden, kept calling me from there, following which at some point I got up from the sofa and pretended as if I would not have heard her due to having been asleep, as I had the impression that she was about to look through my open patio door by then....

from someone in her 30s I would have expected a lil bit more manners then that and it lead sometimes to me to close and lock my patio door "just in case" to have such an event again, where someone doesn't get it to back off....

same when my previous neighbour from the first floor developed the habbit to knock on my door between 10pm and 2am as "one of my cats came inside with him"...how much man power does it take to drop that cat outside again

As that behaviour didnt stop I had to be very blunt to him then to drop it back outside (apart from that I don't like to be contacted after a certain time in the evening... when I don't expect it and even less when I am not close to that person either).

I love office supplies, too. When the office order comes in, I want to be the one to open the box and look at everything first. I love pens, especially chubby pens that write really smoothly across the paper.
I also only like large paper clips. If we get things at the office with a small one or a plastic one, I take the package apart and put large ones in its place.
I also like my closet to be organized nicely.
I can't go to sleep in a messy bed. If it isn't made before I go to bed, I have to make it, then turn the covers back so it looks nice to get into.
I have to have the dollar bills in my wallet organized by value, smaller to larger, all going the same way, and the rattiest bills go in front of each section, so I can spend them first.

I cut my nails so short some people assume I've bitten them off. If a nail is sharp or bugs me I can't forget it. It bugs me sn bugs me till I DO bite it off which then I still need nail clippers cuz nails ragged or bugs me till I can clip it.

I can't stand when anyone's nails are not the same length. It looks plain stupid to have 8 long nails and 2 broken ones! Trim them up to the same length and start over. Or... go to the salon and get a nail repair done to get them all long again. It just gives me the willies because it's so ghetto-fabulous.

I dont cut mine overly short but I prefer them to be short as I don't feel comfortable when they get a tiny bit long....I think thats as long nails were always in the way IMO for my sports and music instruments I played...
