What Truly is a ProDom?
Ive been reading alot of Profiles about ProDoms

Also Would someone of a very early age {20 or so} be considered
a ProDom[&:]

How much experience would it take to be one?

Gee eyes I was wondering; would you trust a 20 yr. old to use a violet wand on you? With an 8' whip? To do upsidedown suspension? To stretch you on the rack? To monitor you in breath play? I suppose that there are those with whom it would be safe but what can you do ask them for their liscence? I am very knowlegable in sports injuries but I would still be leary of the violet wand, but then I always have cared too much for the safety end of it possibly too. I also really have a strong affection for a sub just for being a sub, and have been infested with an overly large concience and set of scruples so maybe am too cautious. I don't think that will be changing anytime soon though I feel it is right, for me at least...blessings to all![;)] Mike

A proDom is a man or woman who uses their skills in BDSM and charges money for the session. There is NO sex involved as that would be classified as prostitution which is illegal in most states and provinces.

Age is immaterial. the 20 year old may have had 2 years intensive training. I would check references before allowing them to scene me. I would recommend that for any ProDomme. Many are heavily involved in their local BDSM community and will have references available.

There is no college for ProDomming that I am aware of, no certification, union or Association. If all the client wants is a simple OTK, that takes less training than a client who wants a more complex or extreme scene, again, I would go back to references, ask the references if the ProDom is skilled in the activity you want performed. Make sure they are aware of saftey precautions about not transferring body fluids and maintain a sanitary workplace.

Didn't you post this under "polls and other random stupidity" last night?

So are you saying that because the violet wand, for example, has the POTENTIAL to do real damage, you would not be interested in learning how to use it? Or are you saying you simply have not learned, so won't use it as of yet? I only ask because nearly everything we do has the POTENTIAL to harm someone or ourselves for that matter...and it would be sad if that is why you deprive yourself or someone else. Lack of confidence might be a more likely reason, in which case, study, learn, be smart and have fun!

Well said, LadyShoshin. And further, regarding college, certificates etc, there are none that I know of. W/we teach each other, and until I am very comfortable with a particular activity I will not engage in it. Perhaps I also lean toward the cautious side, but, it is true that anything W/we do could become harmful. There is alot to learn, which is why I have that favorite quote down below!

I agree with this I am active within the BDSM community in the Midlands, I also play a lot in public so on top of references people can get the oppertunity to see how I work and how important I feel saftey is within play. I think there are pleanty of older Pro-Dommes I know that I would not let near a piece of meat never mind a sub. I's sure my full time sub would vouch for the amount of time and thought I put into my scenes and how careful I am with him. You can not rule somebody out because they are young just as you cannot rule somebody as expirienced simply because they are older.
As for violet wands I view them exactly the same as I view other activities within s and m, I would not use one until I had been taught, tried it on myself or felt it used and concidered myself to be safe to play. At the moment I am trying to find myself a suitable piercing course as it's an area I am extremely intrested in, but I am holding back as I know in the UK a lot of the courses are run be people who actually have no idea of safety themselves.

Going ProDomme is one of my end goals. I love the lifestyle, and if I could make a living at it as well, then that's like icing on the cake.

I have thought about going TO a ProDomme before for the reason you mentioned: We teach each other. I mean I know what I like and prefer, but I don't want to ever get "stale" (if that makes sense). I'd like new ideas and things to try.
