I've always thought you a little dainty. :>

Yes if they can meet the standards and I mean real world scenarios..Not just "I can do 50 sit-ups and run 2 miles" Then yes they deserve to be there.

That's a difficult one to respond to without sounding overly macho. Let's just say I think you'd lose, and leave it at that.

We could but I won't. :>

That's a big leap for someone who would get their ass handed to them by a girlie. lol

I'm sure we're of the same mind though in our predictions.

[:D] Nice one :) I can safely say that adjective has never once been said of me, in all my life.

And it's such a nice word too.

Oh agreed; I mean exactly the same physical and skills tests as apply to male soldiers. I don't think many would pass, but I'm certain some would.

The thing is, would it be worth the forces changing their policies, accommodation and suchlike in order to accept women? In budgetary terms I mean.

Answer me this (coz I don't know) - are the military in the US having a hard time recruiting ATM, what with all the conflicts, or are there still plenty of volunteers?

Superiority would involve being able to accomplish basic spelling.

What a riot. I love it when women talk about getting viscous. Reverse machismo looks much more retarded when coming from the female gender.

You can't come up with anything better than that? Picking on a typo?[:D] (Rhetorical of course)

heh ... one of the 2 I'm thinking of used to spar with a bare-knuckle prize-fighting (and latterly cage-fighting) mate of mine I used to train with.

He maintained she'd kick the crap out of 99% of men, even military trained (he was ex 10 Para) or martial-arts expertise/MMA types. The only reason he wasn't worried was he had a lot more weight and more experience in the ring.

Frankly, she scared the crap out of me; the sort of bird who should have "MILD" tattooed on one tit, and "BITTER" on the other, and a face like a panel beater's thumb. But thankfully she was technically so far ahead of me that I never got asked to spar with her, and bloody grateful about it I am too – I once saw her take on a pretty useful Karate black belt at MMA “mid-contact” spar and hand him his pride in several pieces in under 90 seconds.

kalikshama -> RE: Army Mulls Women in Combat Arms (1/14/2011 5:05:50 PM)

When I was in the USAF, there was at least one guy I could out bench press, several I could out shoot, some I could out run, and plenty I could out drink.

Of course this was the Air Force and not the Army or Marines, but I wasn't terribly macho.

I say if they want in and can pass the tests, let them serve.

A typo is when you hit one key instead of the next.

Saying viscous instead of vicious is not a typo.

There are a few too many letters out of place.

I think it would being I have the next belief. The US in  my opinion is doing nothing more than shoring up it's overreaching empiric desires. We're in numerous countries in which many have bases and for what? Do we really need to have a presence throughout Europe? To that end, I do think it is worth it for them in their minds...regardless of the budget as they've shown through recent history they'll spend anyway.

They do as they always do..Print and borrow more money.

Depends on what you read and where. Some say the economy has brought new recruitment and some say recruitment is down because of staled patriotic post 9-11 fervor.

You are correct. I missed the "e". Well that was certainly worth calling him out on.[8|] I am sure you and lazarus have never made a typo before, maybe one day PA can be as perfect as you two are. [8D]

Getting snippy because you failed to see a joke isn't good reason to have a pop at others. It's just churlish.

Have a sit-down and a nice cup of tea or coffee. Hopefully your SoH will return shortly.

Went with the coffee, heavy on the chocolate[:)] Have a great night.

Do they not publish empirical figures then? I'm trying to think if our Army do though, and I'm not sure they do.

So I missed a key..It's not like I couldn't actually spell it. Ya know I do that sometimes not being a "Superior" typist. Do you think you could ever forgive me for not being perfect in every way?

Definition for typo BTW. : an error (as of spelling) in typed or typeset material

FR

...we've all heard of Godwins Law. The idea that the first person in an argument to compare the opponent to a Nazi automatically loses.

I now propose for you Philo's Law.

The first person to attack their opponent on a purely typographical point loses.

Seriously.....RML, attacking someone over a typo rather than attacking their argument is lazy. Stop it.

Here's a link and I'm sure they do but who do you believe there? I just don't trust a whole lot of what they say about anything..Everything seems to be so politically and monetarily motivated it's hard to get truths.

This is older but if you'll notice the very last link on the page. Criminal waivers..That may give you an idea as to the supply and demand issues the military faces regardless of what they preach.

http://usmilitary.about.com/od/recruitingstatistics/Military_Recruiting_Statistics.htm

Here's another that's more recent..It shows them making their goals by a thin margin..Just enough bodies.

The stuff I've read was passing news stories that momentarily peaked my interest.

I probably could if not for the arrogance you exhibit.

And you missed more than one key.

In fact, you used a completely different word.

But as long as you want to get into definitions we might as well try to be accurate.

typographical error

–noun
an error in printed or typewritten matter resulting from striking the improper key of a keyboard, from mechanical failure, or the like.

...don't particulary give a damn about you Icarys........nothing personal but i don't know you and i don't think you need me to defend you.

However i have exchanged the odd email with RML in the past and i quite like him, misguided debate style and all, i just don't want him to fall into bad habits that will lose him arguments.

Thing is, in my view, RML's instincts are usually good. But using a lazy debate style buries that goodness under naffness.
