wantin2bused -> mummification type activities (5/1/2006 7:08:18 PM)

Hello Everybody, I was just wondering if anybody is interested in a mummification fetish, (whether it be with plastic wrap, tape, plaster, latex things, etc) this particularily turns me on and was wondering if anybody wanted to discuss this further with me and give me more ideas and stuff... well i look forward to hearing from you.
Thanks

Mod Note: Edited for contact information.

GeekFreak -> RE: mummification type activities (5/1/2006 7:11:18 PM)

I'm favorable on the idea, but it's not on my top list of things to do. I've always thought that saran-wrap made the most visually pleasing mummification, and seems fairly easy to apply as well.

Sirandlittle1 -> RE: mummification type activities (5/1/2006 7:16:38 PM)

Ill be watching this thread, as new ideas are always welcome in our lives. Im very into rubber and latex.
Glad wrap/cling film would seem to be the cheapest option. The bdsm dollar is pretty pricey when your looking at body suits etc.
Sensory deprivation tanks are findable, and what you get up to in there is pretty private lol though ive not tied.
I find my claustraphobia button can get pushed sometimes unexpectedly which would probably proclude the mummification in total.
So i suffice with other forms of constriciton like, tight laced corset, rubber wear, crushing, breath play, hand over mouth, a hot heat in the room im playing, inner tubes im looking into what i can make out of them as they are dead cheap.
Sauna's.
I look forward to reading other responses, thanks for the thread, interesting.

My first experience with it was in a rubber dom's rubber bondage sleep sack. That was fun.  I could squirm but my arms were held in separate compartments so I was really zipped up and trapped in the sack.  Very, very neat.

Then when I was Domme to this guy we did a saran wrap followed by duct tape mumification.  We ran out before we could do his head, but the rest of him looked very nice.

Wrapping someone can be a lot of work though, but it's all part of the excitement really.

MasterFireMaam -> RE: mummification type activities (5/1/2006 7:21:23 PM)

Mummification is one of the 4 pillars of spiritual SM, as taught by Butchmanns; it can be very spiritual...transformative. For something different, try vet wrap. It's like an ace bandage that sticks to itself. If you only do a few layers, you can even wrap the head.

DigitBox -> RE: mummification type activities (5/1/2006 7:29:58 PM)

Oh yeah, almost forgot too.

When I don't have someone around to do it and I'm in a being subjected to bondage mood, I use a spandex leotard , I tie off the ends  of the legs together, I tie the arms together, and then I slide myself in, and it's almost like a spandex bondage bag.  It allows for squirming and a feeling of movement restriction but ultimately one should be able to slip out of it.

It can be fun.

Just thought I'd add that.  Between two people it could work too I'm sure.  Just the bondage could be more secure since someone is there to let the person being bound back out again.

GeekFreak -> RE: mummification type activities (5/1/2006 7:37:18 PM)

That's a really creative and interesting idea, Digitbox. You need to come over to my self-bondage topic for duct tape (non mummifation) if you have any experience and more creative thoughts. ^_~

By the way, the mention of vet wrap does seem to be fairly popular by mummifications enthusiasts. I've seen it mentioned other places as well, so I'm assuming it is a pretty darn good material to try.

LadyRope -> RE: mummification type activities (5/1/2006 7:40:14 PM)

mummification is definatly high on my list,I use vet wrap in a mutlitude of colours, and you can get it relativly inexpensive through  equestrian stores,I pay 1.89 for one roll and to do a medium size male,I have used 20..they are reusable ..I am also very much into rope art/heavy bondage and rope against skin,yummmm...and have used my skills with rope to first do a rope corsette and then a full body mummified with rope....its a work of art when I have completed the full bind..for the rope I use 8mm width (natural or synthetic)and I use around 20 pieces of rope ,each around 7-9 mm.

cariad -> RE: mummification type activities (5/1/2006 7:48:31 PM)

girl is curious about mummification as well and has done some reading and the following is what she found on two websites. she had to read up on it because where she is going there is going to be a demo on mummification and she was asked if she would volunteer to be mummified(sp).

Mummification (BDSM)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jump to: navigation, search
Mummification as a BDSM bondage practice involves restraining a living person's body in a non-damaging way by wrapping it head to toe, or neck to toe, in materials like saran wrap, clingfilm, cloth, bandages, rubber strips, plaster bandages, bodybags, or straitjackets. The end result is a person completely immobilized and looking like an Egyptian mummy. They may then either be left bound in a state of effective sensory deprivation for a period of time, or sensually stimulated in their state of bondage, before being released from their wrappings.
Mummification is often used to enhance a feeling of total bodily helplessness, and incorporated with sensation play.
[edit]
Essential safety
First and foremost, breathing and other safety measures must be appropriately taken care of, usually by leaving the face (or at least the mouth and nose) open.
As with all bondage practices, there should be a means for the bound person to communicate in an emergency, and a way to release them quickly if necessary (for example, using EMT scissors to cut their bonds). A bound person should never be left alone.
Using clingfilm also brings up the issue of hydration in the body. When the body is tightly wrapped in clingfilm, sweating occurs more than usual (as the body is overheating to it's new closed surroundings). The bound person should be (at least) aware of their own hydration and remember that if sweating occurs to an extreme, rehydration should take place.
[edit]
Best Practices
Mummification is best done on the arms and torso first, leaving the legs free so the bottom can stand steadily. When the legs are being wrapped, the top should insure the bottom will not fall, and see that he or she is safely lowered to the floor or bed.
If the bottom's legs are mummified together, this may make the ankles or knees rub together, causing discomfort. A small amount of padding, such as a folded towel, solves this problem.
Prolonged mummification, particularly with materials like saran wrap or latex, can cause sweating and consequent dehydration in the bottom.
Body temperature (maintained to an extent by movement) may also be affected (some wrappings reflect warmth and others reduce it) so a suitably warm environment and possibly warmth (by blankets or similar) during aftercare may be important.

Mummification
A specialized kind of bondage in which the whole body, including the head if some form of breathing tube is used, is wrapped tightly using materials like cling film (saran wrap or pallet wrap) and duct tape (also called gaffa tape in UK), cloth or latex bandages until the bottom (the mummee/mummy) is completely immobilized. Holes are then sometimes made for access to genitals and other areas.
A Mummy  (mummee: One who is mummified.) is:
1. Female equivalent (in British English) of a daddy.
2. One who is mummified, though in this case the spelling 'mummee' is usually preferred.
It isn't really like most other types of bondage. It provides the immobility and feeling of submission that other
bondage techniques do, but there are added physical and emotional elements that are hard to duplicate any
other way. While mummified, you will experience sensory deprivation, as you would in a sensory deprivation
tank, although on a somewhat lower level. You feel not restrained, but taken completely out of your body, as
though you are floating in some astral plane free from weight, feeling, sight, and sound. Only your essence
remains, and you become intensely focused on the few small sensations that still remain -- your heartbeat, your
breathing, your thoughts.

Mummification can be performed many ways, but the principle is the same. Instead of saran wrap, you can use cloth or latex bandages or even leather strips, or even pieces of cloth secured with duct  tape or other tapes. You can also get something of the same effect by using sleepsacks and hoods. But since anyone can
obtain saran wrap or pallet wrap inexpensively, I will describe that technique here. Adhesive tapes and wraps like cling film (saran wrap) are popular for mummification but can also be used in more general bondage, for example, in hand bindings.
Duct tape is convenient in some circumstances and is readily available in black or silver. However, be careful about applying it to bare skin: ripping it off will remove hairs and possibly even skin and can be painful, and irritation may result from contact with the adhesive. Go easy, or apply it over a barrier material such as vet wrap or pallet wrap.
You'll want to have plenty of wrap available, because it takes more than you might think. It works out to somewhere around 75-100m (yards), which is three or four regular sized rolls of wrap. Placing a blindfold first will ensure complete darkness under the wrap, and will prevent the eyes from opening. If you don't have a blindfold, place a few cotton balls on top of each closed eye, and secure with a little medical tape if you wish.
Remember throughout the wrapping, that absolute comfort is important in creating the headspace which is required to maximize the experience. If you are looking for a sexually oriented adventure this probably won't do it for you! As part of a scene, however, it can be extremely effective, so don't rule it out until you've tried it. A bottom's headspace is not quite the same after being released from a good mummification as it was going in, and a good top will use this fact to his or her advantage -- and of course to create an intense experience for the bottom.
You should try to have at least one helper, also,  who could be either another top or a bottom. The assistant will be responsible for maintaining the bottom in an upright position while you work with the wrapping material. The assistant must also maintain close communication with the bottom, to make sure the experience remains an enjoyable one for all concerned. The emotional high that this form of bondage produces can become scary if the environment is not comforting and safe.
Another good reason not to attempt mummification alone is that you may need the assistant to help steady the bottom. One very basic (but still very real) danger is that the bottom will fall over. The process of wrapping will cause disorientation, and the loss of all sense of direction; they will often attempt to push themselves over, wrongly thinking that they are already falling, so you must be prepared to hold them upright, especially if the bottom is not experienced in this area. In order to minimize the danger of this happening, make sure the bottom understands the potential for this phenomenon, and will trust you enough to allow the falsely detected fall to happen -- which ironically will prevent a real fall from happening.
You must also provide ahead of time for safety precautions in case of emergency - whether it is physical danger or emotional overload. Surgical (bandage) scissors are ideal for cutting off the wrap quickly, since they are rounded on the bottom so they will not cut the skin.
If you want to wrap the head too, you will need to have a system to facilitate breathing. One useful piece of apparatus is a piss gag, either with a firmly attached tube at least 25mm (1") wide that extends out in front or with a hole to which you can attach such a tube. The tubing will extend beyond the mummifying layers, allowing complete bondage while maintaining safety. Most people also prefer to wrap the head in muslin or some other form of light cloth before adding the pallet wrap.
Ways to Play
The bottom should stand in a location that allows plenty of room for free movement all around. Start applying
the wrap by wrapping the arms. The bottom should hold them perpendicular to the body in order to allow this.
Wrap from the armpit all the way down to the hand, and allow the wrap to extend beyond the ends of the fingers.
This will be neatened up later, so just lay the wrap on liberally.
When the arms are well wrapped, wrap the chest. Do not simply wrap around the chest itself, but rather,
crisscross the chest and shoulders. Wrap over one shoulder, down across the chest and under the armpit,
straight across the back and under the other armpit, up across the chest, over the other shoulder, etc.
Occasionally you should overlap the wrappings that were previously laid around the arms. There should be no
gaps. Continue until you have laid several complete layers.
Proceed to wrap the rest of the body in the same manner. Wrap the legs separately before binding them
together. As the wrappings go on, the subject will begin to look very much like an Egyptian mummy, hence the
term mummification.
Holes can be left (or cut) in the wrapping at strategic points -- you can figure them out!
How long should you leave the bottom in mummification? It is a very intense experience so with a novice as
short a time as 10-15 minutes may be enough. Some experienced players like to be left for hours on end but
remember anyone so heavily restrained must be supervised at all times. In any case the subjective passing of
time for the bottom will be very different from normal.
Follow the same rules as with any heavy bondage. Watch for circulation problems as with rope, but be especially careful to keep all bonding materials away from the subject's face unless you have arranged a breathing mechanism . Materials such as saran wrap can easily cause suffocation if not used with extreme caution.

Fine net bags with zippers, work the best overall.

slaveladyj -> RE: mummification type activities (5/1/2006 8:17:08 PM)

I experienced being wrapped in Saran wrap for the first time Sunday night. It was very enjoyable, confining, with feeling I wasn't being suffocated. And the noise every time I moved, or tried to move rather, made me think of that bubble wrap. I wanted to pop the bubbles that weren't there.

LadyRope -> RE: mummification type activities (5/1/2006 8:26:21 PM)

fine net bags?????? LOL with zippers no less, thats a first

MistressWolfen -> RE: mummification type activities (5/1/2006 8:27:32 PM)

I have always enjoyed mummification, yet, am Myself very claustrophobic *shrugs*...I like to sew heavy spandex restriction suits specifically tailored for a submissive with zips to the bits I want access to. It costs less than $80 canadian dollars to tailor a suit and aprox. 1 day time inclusive of detailed measuring. Mind when I sell them I do put a mark up to reflect the time put into each piece. I also adore cling film with a vet or duct tape wrap over. As someone mentioned this is not an interest for those that want immediate results, it is pain staking and time consuming to create a nicely wrapped "gift".
***edited to remind all playing with mummification..hydrate hydrate hydrate...the packege is loosing body fluid rapidly because of the wrap and the body temp can rise very rapidly with the lack of air flow on skin receptors***

sjacket -> RE: mummification type activities (5/2/2006 6:22:30 PM)

I love mummification.  It puts me in space almost immediately.  My personal favorite wrapping is pallet wrap (industrial saran)- it is heavier than saran wrap. It does heat up quickly- be sure you have access to liquids and some sort of fan or air conditioning to keep you from baking and de-hydrating.  The longest i have been wrapped was 12 hours.  I was cathiterized and had a tube for liquid intake.  I was a bit stiff upon coming out, but the experience was just heavenly.....  ahhhh, memories.

ownedgirlie -> RE: mummification type activities (5/2/2006 8:14:56 PM)

Master wrapped me up snug and tight in saran wrap and put me down for the night.  I hated it.  Hated hated hated.  My skin couldn't breathe.  I felt horribly uncomfortable - hot, sweaty, trapped.  I managed to fall asleep...but woke up right into an anxiety attack.  No fun.  I hope he never does it again!! [:(]

MistressLorelei -> RE: mummification type activities (5/2/2006 8:27:21 PM)

Sleep sacks are a whole lot of fun.  I have a lot of experience using a leather tight fitting sack, which looks like a very form fitting body bag, including attached hood.  The sack zips up the front and has laces (like a corset) which lace and tie up the front.  The bag can be unzipped in all kinds of fun areas to allow for all sorts of fun surprise activities.  The sack allowed for lots of sensory deprivation and almost total immobilization of the "victim" inside.  It can also be used for suspension, though I never tried that. I highly recommend a good quality sleep sack for someone who has interests in the mummification/confinement areas... unless their interest is solely in the process of applying the wraps.

LOL I spent Saturday night in saran wrap. My second experience. I really love the feeling.

This time I put a lot of energy into actually struggling, and was surprised to note that I actually became claustrophobic. I'm definitely interested in exploring that vulnerability further. I think there's a whole wealth of mind-games, and limit-pushing possibilities, in this discovery. [:)]

Love saran/pallet wrap but not the head.

MAMBOdeBEAU -> RE: mummification type activities (7/23/2009 7:36:33 PM)

OP:

I have enjoyed making plaster casts and masks
... with straws for nostril breathing..and then "masking" the upper torso..and down to the upper thighs..

It is a delicious sensation..and I like it too...

As you wrap with the cool plaster..you feel it dry ..then you feel it tighten...and suddenly there is no movement..
You are embryo...seed...mummy...death and life.

I have done this for upper body to thighs standing...and face..or upper body as they lay with hands crossed over chest..( legs are in saran wrap or tied)

You need surgical scissors for emerg....lots of vaseline on hair edges unless you want hair pulled out as part of the unshelling..

THE birthing or coming out of the shell is wonderful...and there are always ,always those few moments when you feel the shell will NOT come off...as you struggle to come out.
It is quite profound..
You also have an art work left to paint...do ritual with or decorate as a sculpture

** hints..
** pay attention to dehydration due to the wrap and watch body temp!!

**you can wear a t-shirt/panties and it can be plastered over which makes it easier to get it off...or without the undies you need
a lot of vaseline over the body or you will have great difficulty due to hair holding the plaster on.
* if you wear underwear have it cut up the back or a thong that can be cut/surgical mask type cover or you will not step out like a pair of pants
** surgical scissors always for emergency or help around hairlines you missed...
** cover head hair with shower cap or bag
** you can get plaster from hospitals or craft stores and cut in strips..
craft sites will show you how to criss cross for best effect and building..
** you will need to cut up the back if you made a cast to upper butt..or  cut crotch area( of the cast!) and then up the back to open

We did this..several of us with a candle lit atmosphere.. with a silk tent made and a scenerio of making Egyptian death masks...there was music..aroma..so wonderful...
Each couple did something different...one had a sitting mummy who stayed that way the longest and incorperated other BDSM activities..

One couple simply did a mask to start..
One D made a an upper torso of his pregnant slave and incorperated a ritual for them as she was bound in plaster and unable to see

Have fun..
