http://www.cbc.ca/canada/story/2011/01/14/same-sex-marriage014.html

....so, in Canada, it's the tenth anniversary of same sex marriages. Thus far the sky has failed to fall in, gangs of marauding gays and lesbians have utterly failed to materialise.
All that actually seems to have happened is that those people, whose sexual preference is not considered usual, have stayed married.

The sky may not have fallen, but Canada HAS been cursed with rotten winters and lousy football teams.

I agree with gay rights activists that the government has no business being in their bedrooms. I'm against gay marriage. The government also has no business in my bedroom. I'm against marriage as a legal status. We shouldn't be expanding the bias against single people or those in poly relationships, but ridding ourselves of it. If someone wants to give another the right to make medical decisions and such, signing a legal form is easy to do. Isn't that part of getting married, anyway?

For those of you who get married as part of your religion, go for it. Practice whatever you like within your religion if it doesn't harm others.

BKSir -> RE: A tin cup for them all (1/15/2011 9:33:44 AM)

Damn, been ten years already? Good on em! And I'm starting to feel old. Thanks a lot Canada. As if my body being full of aches and pains, and white hairs appearing wasn't enough, you have to make 10 years suddenly blow by.

I actually remember exactly where I was and what I was doing when the news came down and gave me some hope for this continent, and sealed the deal of me wanting to move northward. It's only taken 8 of those 10 to compromise with M. on just WHERE up there to go.

Also, Hells yeah! Go Canucks! 3 points ahead of anyone else in the NHL, 4 points ahead of anyone else in their conference! It's a beautiful thing.

Lucylastic -> RE: A tin cup for them all (1/15/2011 5:16:07 PM)

Shit, I should have made myself clear..I meant Canadian players as a whole..Not the Vancouver team. My bad...
Penguins RULE!!!!!!!!!!!

Congratulations Canada! Well done. You guys have an enviable record of consistently leading the world in socially progressive improvement and change.

And congrats to you too Lucy! A smile, a kiss and a big hug to each of your buds! [:D] x [:D] x ((((( )))))
