If anyone is interested here's a live cam site for Mt. St. Helens. It's expected to have a moderate eruption sometime today or tomorrow:

Mt. St. Helens cam

We are about 75 mi from the Mt. In the 1980 blast we had some ash in our yard but that was all, it usually blows southeast or southwest.

They are quite sure it will erupt again soon, bigger than friday's. They have a level3 alert on. They have evacuated all roads and observatories within 5 miles now.

I'm going to a golf clinic today given by Jesper Parnivik. The cool thing is that it's at a course that is on top of a big hill and i am hoping there is a view of the mountain.

I heard about it last night on the news. I only watch television when my grand daughter is here, and she likes to watch the news. lol I remember (vaguely) seeing something about the last time this volcano erupted, and it did a lot of damage in that one. *whew* Hurricanes on one coast and a volcano on another one. Natural disasters are pretty scarey. Stay okay over there, proud.

Thanks. I'm not in any danger but i do find it very exciting. Today it only burped a little steam. They are still predicting a bigger eruption but nothing like 1980.

the cam is no longer working,, I wonder if that means it erupted and threw it out of whack?

Maybe it is because it is night time?

Thanks for the link, I showed it to my son earlier today. In June, we visited the volcano on the Big Island of Hawaii...it was spectacular. Course, our volcanos here do more spitting and ash throwing than spewing of lava. I don't remember the reason for that though lol

Cam seems to be down right now. I doubt that means there was an eruption but then maybe so.

The cam updates about every 5-10 min and is down while it is updating i think.

If you scroll down on that page there is a place you can click to download movies of the 3 eruptions since Oct. 1.

On our way home from vacation yesterday it rained lightly in central WA and left some ash on top of our car. I hadn't seen the news so didn't even know there was another small eruption. Now i have to wash my car, grrrrr.

Overnight last night there was some lava movement and it built a new dome behind the old one inside the big crater. They still say there could be an explosive eruption sometime.

We're just east of Issaquah. I remember the '80 eruption very well, was glued to the TV, and even up here we had some ash.

In case anyone missed the news tonight, Mt. St. Helens is currently erupting, not sure how long it will last. It started at about 5:30pm pacific time. It's too dark to see much right now.

OMG thanks for the update! I had been following the volcano when it started erupting back in.... when was it?.... November?

Interesting story, back in 1980 my Dad and his friends were supposed to be fishing up on the North fork of the Toutle river that day. But he forgot his fishing licence and they went to the beach instead. Sure was lucky! Otherwise, I wouldn't be here lol.

Man I can't believe I missed all this on the news! I never have the TV on here in my dorm, I think this calls for a change *picks up remote and turns on the TV*
Thanks again!

Hmm, I'm bound back west to the civilized part of the state, perhaps I'll get me some ash instead of the usual Pullman dust.
