ORIGINAL: Vendaval Greetings A/all, From Wikipedia, a short history of our National Anthem; including adaptations, translations, and the tradition of it being sung in public at college and sporting events. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Star-Spangled_Banner And here is the current Spanish version with the English translation. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nuestro_Himno Please note that our National Anthem has been previously translated into German, Latin, Spanish, French, Samoan and Yiddish. (And yes, "The Star Spangled Banner" is a very difficult piece to sing, as it requires an octave and a half vocal range. Whitney Houston gave one of the best recent performances in 19991 and that recording is widely available.) And as a side note, Canada has both an English and a French version of their National Anthem. Regards, Vendaval It's not a translation. It might be "based on" the United States National Anthem, but it's a far cry from the US anthem. The words (even assuming the flaws of translation) and the message significantly diverge after the first stanza. The very Wikipedia articles you cite clearly show the differance. *meow*
