State rep is throwing an open house- everyone got post cards I am guessing- if it is an open house, why do they want RSVP a week in advance?

The gal is not new.  She been in the office 20 years- which has an open door policy for the most part.

They had some extra red tape laying around. Just show up. It's probably that they just want information. If they mess with you for not RSVPing, say you did, ask them how they could've lost it.

You owe those people no loyalty or honesty. You have a right to be there. Be there.

If they're going to have any sort of refreshments, the caterer wants an idea of how much to set up.

Did it occur to you that perhaps in the wake of the shooting in Arizona, elected representatives may now be taking extra security precautions?

That was my first thought

Well if I wanted to shoot them and an RSVP would enable me to do just that, I would certainly reply. If it's for security, it has to be the lamest attempt I've seen so far.

Having an open door policy is a bit different from having an open house.  People who take advantage of an open door policy generally don't expect refreshments, that calls for a head count.  Also, people coming to an office normally do so one at a time.  An open house usually means a bunch of people at one time and she may want to arrange for enough staff so that everyone feels that he or she is getting personal attention.

Nice to see you here too, GreedyTop.  Sometimes the neuropathy keeps me from sleeping so I end up scanning the net.  However, I usually stay away from political sites because they aren't all that great for my blood pressure.
