Try saying it with a Yankee accent.  You think _you_ get a look...

That's the problem! I am a transplanted yankee. [:)]
They do talk funny down here!

I hope Ghita returns to this thread with some happy news.

John has been around longer than I have, longer than you, longer than anybody I'm pretty sure - no, I don't know him personally, but you can get to know him through his posts and the books he's written, and he's anything but a stuffed shirt.

If he was being absolutely serious, it qualifies as an opinion, nothing else, so no reason to get your knickers in a bind, we're all entitled to at least one.

Many many vanillas apparently feel far superior to me and do not hesitate to make their opinion known to me in no uncertain terms - I say they don't know what they're missing.

Except for those who've tried it an disliked it. Lots of vanillas out there who have done just that for their spouses and decided it isn't them. And that they want to be able to lie there in the dark on occasion, half asleep, and have their spouse roll on top of them, and have gentle lovemaking.

And if you're unable to enjoy that and need every single time to be a production with ropes and chains and hours carved out, well then I say you don't know what you're missing.

And yes John is allowed his opinion, which is all it is, not gospel truth. And several of us have different opinions of his post than yours - to wit, we found his comment offensive, which was no better than the guy he said it to, who was equally offensive. Tit for tat doesn't build bridges, it just reinforces walls.

It might be offensive to vegetarians I suppose, but again, I don't really see how calling it their loss is "offensive", calling them morons would be offensive.

I'm well aware there are those who don't have the stomach or the inclination for wiiwd - but that's their loss. [;)]

I think you both might be a little aspie: the context was clearly a bantering tone, not a lecturing one, thus, kidding.

xssve -> RE: Explaining BDSM (1/24/2011 7:30:49 AM)

And, Two additional points, one being that this interview probably took place Twenty years ago of more, in fact it might have been one of the first direct references to wiiwd in the national media in a positive sense, if not the first, and. my guess is that John doesn't spend nearly as much time thinking about what vanilla people do in bed any more than I do, a lot less time, that is, than they seem to spend thinking about what it is we do.

How do you answer the question, is the question, assuming the interviewer has the right to ask it?

As far as I'm concerned, asking the question, out of anything but genuine curiosity, or if it's your job, say in an interview, is somewhat offensive, like I need to justify it to you - thus, I'm not that concerned if you're offended if I say: because not doing it is fucking boring.

I'm hoping John spends most of his time thinking about his boat, his family and a good glass of wine.

In all my 48 years, I have never been called a little bit aspie.  Thanks so much for showing me the light.

My tone was joking too.  So, I say you are misunderstanding.

Neener neener.

I too hope Ghita comes back with good news.  She is just too damn adorable to have problems like this.
