Funny thing is that I heard about this last night on MSNBC, and the only national news source to carry the story was AP. quote: FBI investigating bomb found at Martin Luther King Day parade The FBI is investigating whether racial bias could have played a role in the apparent attempted bombing of a Martin Luther King Jr. Day parade route in Spokane, Wash., officials said Wednesday. Three city employees spotted an unattended black backpack on a bench about an hour before the parade honoring the slain civil rights leader was to start on Monday. When they looked inside and saw wires, they alerted Spokane police, who defused a potentially lethal explosive device, officials said. source

Yeah, I caught that on Fox News. It's a good thing that the backpack/bomb was spotted ahead of time. There are a lot of idiots out there.

According to the article I read, it was quite sophisticated with a remote detonator and capable of killing/maiming a LOT of people. Of course, to be fair, when is the last time a police spokesperson didnt inflate things a bit?

I gots tae get a monocle er sumthin... I saw this scroll by nine times an every time I thought it said "FBI investigating BONG found..." I was thinkin, WTF? Why wouldn't there be a Bong there an why would they be surprised to see it?

What strikes me as strange is that in recent years, any suspected bomb, or attempted bombing with an unworkable device (the times square car bomb) the incendiary devices in DC and Maryland have been national news and flooding the media. Why is this one being kept quite?

Quiet? I heard it on three different news casts Monday night while on patrol. AP, Fox, and NBC news to be exact. Good job by the citizens and police of Spokane.

I almost think, being kept quiet is a good thing, in that it doesn't give the egomaniac who placed it there, any publicity. As to why it's being kept quiet... Are you being rhetorical? M

I notice it, <insert derogatory name here>, because it was covered on a news program I watched. Considering the media coverage that the recent devices in Maryland and DC got, I would figure that the media would be all over this. It is a case of domestic terrorism, pure and simple.

Guns, in the hands of an some individuals is a threat, bombs are a threat, a knife is a threat, in the hands of some individuals, so is a lead pipe, a baseball bat and any number of items found around your home.
