Genuineness. No mention of casual play. Honest admission of their own experience/inexperience. An indication that they're interested in personality, talking, laughing, something besides my ass coming in contact with a blunt object. The ability to laugh OR make fun of themselves instantly gives me a better opinion of them.

If there's not a "Master", "Sir" or "superuberatomicdommydomDOM" in sight then there's a gold star for them.

Pretty much the same things you'd expect from vanilla for me. I want them socially adjusted and not trolling for teh secks. Anything else comes after that, I need to know I can stand them first.

I despair at the inability of people to come up with simple solutions to an introductory email that require no more than:

1. write to someone after reading their profile and comment on something therein or give a nice compliment that sounds genuine
2. don't say anything to her that you would not say if you met her in Whole Foods
3. don't ever say the following: subbies, subby, I am a dominate, kneel bitch, I want to be your Master, what are your hard limits, got milk, or any other dumb line.

Additionally, do add pictures and text to your profile. Only once have I responded to someone without an essay, and his intro email was quite well written.

It would take alot more than one email for me to think of you as anything other than a man
wanting to communicate, so I wouldn't put so much pressure on having to come across as SuperMaster.
As others have said, open the dialogue with a non-sexual topic that you feel both of you can relate to.

I have a habit of checking forum post history from people that send me emails
out of the blue, and I have a feeling many other submissives do as well.
I don't feel your history to date is going to give off the impression you wish to convey.
(ie: asking others how to make contact...what is TPE, etc.)
I suggest taking some quiet time in reading the threads, especially in Ask A Master.

chiming in to agree with sexyred and kalikshama -- something that shows the person actually read my profile, and isn't just spamming every F - sub - insert age group here. Something showing a handle on language, though if there's an explanation of dyslexia, then i can totally understand that. something to show that there actually ARE shared interests.
if your message was composed after reading submissivewomensecrets.com, then just scrap it and start over.
most people object to inappropriately sexual, demeaning, or demanding messages from others they do not know. if you get the urge to send a message saying "hello fuckmeat," or "suck my dick, bitch," then you should probably re-evaluate your tactics.
oh AND -- if the profile says "i'm interested in mental aspects of blah blah blah," then sending a huge copy-n-paste about some wacky play scene is probably not going to impress that person.
