There have been numerous threads on here asking about truth and honesty and what one thinks of liars and fakes. Here's a new twist. What about hypocrites?
A Dom/Domme leads by example, not words and sometimes the true colors become exposed despite the words spoken.
Has anyone been exposed to this type of situation, or witnessed individuals point at others in criticism and then turn around and do the same thing?

Onward, Onward, Kevin

I think it's an inevitable part of human nature that we at least occasionally, talk the talk, and don't walk the walk. Ideals are rarely easy to achieve, but I believe a person should strive to be true to their beliefs as much as possible.

Naturally I've known people on both sides of the D/s dynamic who could be called hypocrites...but that's no surprise. We're human, after all.

This is why I find it so difficult to take such threads seriously and on the whole, think they are wishful thinking. People are flawed and anyone who is only slightly reflective knows they are too, I certainly am, which is why I'm pretty tolerant on many things when it comes to the human character. Someone has to do something pretty bad or take me for a complete idiot before I respond to human weakness.

life, people, circumstances all three are always changing.  never say never, isn't that how the saying goes.  at the time one says that they would never do, say, behave a certain way doesn't mean that they are lying to anybody but themselves at that point in time.  generally, most people do believe in what they say, while they are saying it, but anything can happen and circumstances change to cast a little bit of doubt on the integrity or honesty of that person.

The hypocrits....do as i say not as i do, double standard that you are referring is unfortunately a part of human nature.  The mentality, it's ok because i know the consequences better than so and so does and i'm the boss, or even worse who's gonna know,  as flawed as it seems does exist.  the world is filled with hipocracy because most people care about what others think and let it influence their decisions if not their behavior rather than their true beliefs.  the world is not without evil.  it isn't fun to be the one caught in that trap of doing what's right and being honest, only to witness the dom you are serving to go against all that he has been teaching....it's confusing, it's disorienting, and insulting.  you can't trust somebody halfway....it's an all or nothing situation if you are involved in it.  trust, honesty has to go both ways or it is pointless.

So far all the points and sentiments shared here by the ones who have posted are very sincere and valid.
It kinda goes back to the saying if you live in a glass house do not throw stones.....but unfortuneatly so many do.
I have just seen some of those who have been on the soap box in threads past get caught in their own lies now, which made me think about some of the hipocrycy that goes on, even here.
Kinda funny actually, till someone gets hurt.

I was once hit for six by a woman who was so insistant on her honesty, her moral rectitude and her ethics but I was so infatuated with her I didn't stop to think. If I heard what she said from someone else's mouth or saw it on the threads, I would have just thought bullshit! Unfortunately I didn't stop to think, bullshit and paid the price. It was precisely because I felt she had taken me for a complete idiot when she refused to apologise, I stopped being tolerant and responded.

As my grandmother used to phrase it "practice what you preach" ........and yes, I have known quite a few people that just luuuuuuuv telling everyone else what they are doing wrong and what they should be doing and arrogantly live their lives ignoring their own issues,  I tend to avoid them like the plague.

Hypocrosy occurs in society period.
Sometimes it's not hypocrosy but someone changing their view on something.

Both are natrual and expected, to me it is simply human nature.

Using the past to judge the present with humans is just plain wrong when used as a whole to judge anys words or values. We are a ever changing living being that cannot have the present valued or devalued by the past. Everything has its place and hipocracy to has its reasonings. Think of a parent that teaches the child to do as I say not as I do. (Such as the parent that smokes, drinks, takes drugs but tells the child not to do such things. ) If every parent actually did what they taught their children wouldent it be a different world that We live in ? And when it comes to hipocracy or any issue that deals with morals isent it a better way to look at both sides of the issue to form opinions of such then to just look at the one side of it when its value changes or the subject changes? In other words I say I have red hair but I actually have black hair and later state such. Of course the week befor I argued that red heads have more fun then black heads speaking as tho I was a red head. Is My being a hipocrate important or the reasons for My opinion on the subject ? Which is the bigger evil? My not being a red head or My thinking that red heads have more fun ? Dammit fastlane dont get Me started in these damn deep thought mind shits this week..... I wanna relax!!!! (repeat after Me, Dread DOESENT want red hair for summer, Dread DOESENT want red hair for summer............) gawd fastlane I TRUSTED you NOT to bring up such ethical issues!!! LOL

Human behavior is human behavior, given any group.  And as W/we all know,
human are flawed creatures with a multitude of exasperating attitudes and actions.

Pay more attention to what someone actually does than just what they say.

IMO,

i have known both liars and hypocrites, and i don't particularly care for either, and i don't associate with either as well.

sometimes people make genuine mistakes or have misunderstandings with the best of intentions; that is being human. forgiving that person and oneself for seeing things not as they are is part of humanity as well.

far, far worse is continuing to deny that which is so obvious. i live my life and wish others to live theirs, well out of mine in some instances; in others, i welcome them to share mine. it's all in how one handles oneself.
