I need to kneel before him.  Last year I fell and tore my knee open, and he allowed me to sit, rather than kneel, but I begged to kneel anyway, no matter how my knee hurt.  It's where I belong, after all...

That is beautiful.

Greetings everyone,

For me there is a distinct difference between kneeling, bowing and bowing down as it might be commonly called.

In my household if you are a servant, you will usually kneel to me. My Significant other does so as well. Kneel for greetings, usually in the low-kneel style of speaking. However, if you are a slave, you will bow for greeting me. This in my house means forehead to ground type of affair and is usually quite humbling. Bowing down as a concept is the acceptance of supplication to another, and obedience to them. So by ones action, one can bow down to someone else.

Do I bow and kneel? Yes, when the need arises. For instance, when I train people how to do positions of respect, I'm not afraid to get down right next to them and show them so they can copy my body's position and use it. I also use various kneeling positions in dance and display at my job -- for show -- as I am a dancer seasonally by trade. I had also done my fair share of kneeling and bowing when I learned submission myself, because in my system it is customary to learn both sides of the rope as a Dominant. Lastly, yes, I bow and bow down before God every night and I'm not too proud to do that. :D.

Hope this helped you by seeing one person's view of the subject,

Haya Sierra ---

Master has kneeled before me many times, most of them to show me how exactly he wants me positioned, however once or twice just to freak me out.

I've had Masters do that before ... kneel to show me how to do a position ... and it just BOTHERED me. I'm like, use me like a rag doll and *put* me into position but for lord's sake dont do it yourself! PLEASE!

JMO, but when i think of bowing - i think of bending at the waist and showing respect, bowing down, being on one knee other knee up head lowered, as a man would bow down before a King to be Knighted, kneeling would be just what we do for our Tops, again this is just my perception.

LOL i cant think of any Dominant kneeling

i can!   Once, after i had confessed that my emotions were just not lining up with how i wanted to behave on a certain topic, i was reminded it's ok to be angry, as long as it is expressed in a respectful way.

Then He knelt down on the floor beside me and said "Now,  talk out ALL the hurdles you have to settling this issue, I'm listening. I understand. When you're finished getting it all out, we can be done with it."

i talked and wept and got out all my conflicting emotions about that topic, while He knelt there and nodded and allowed me to settle myself.   After wringing it out, i was able to lay aside the barriers to my obedience and move forward. i am reminded how lucky i am, and i am convinced no Master ever stands so tall as when He kneels to comfort a slave.

A Good Leader doesn't have to use physical positions of superiority to demonstrate His authority.  There is some measure of greatness when one doesn't have to strike a pose to know their place.

That said, there are plenty of times when Dominants defer to a submissives' wider knowledge of a subject, or expertise in one area, and those Dominants who are employees do some bowing down within the hierarchy of workplace.  Everybody kneels in some way, someplace, sometime.

(gender-flip if needed, your mileage may vary, objects in mirror may be closer than they appear)

Thank you, Amayos.  Part of me smiles, wondering if he offered me to sit knowing I would kneel anyway.
