People think I'm no good, crazy as a loon. Used to get high in the mornin and drunk in the afternoon. But I ain't askin nobody for nuthin, cept an opinion on their own. I know people who are actually crazier than I, believe it or not. Well I brought up the issue of the bubblehead who tripped over into that fountain in the mall. I brought up what I "said" in that thread about who should be on camera and who should not. Like it or not, I've been topped ( no not that way ! ) this fucker brought up a very interesting hypothetical situation. I actually asked if it was for real and he said that he just thought it up. So I can assure it is a hypothetical situation, but that doesn't mean it never happened anywhere. You are a Parent, you are going out. You and Hubby or whatever. You like to get away so you get a babysitter. Over time, the kid seems to know too much, be acting funny or something, you can't quite put your finger on it. So you put a camera in your own home, and instead of one person who discovered that their infant was baing abused, you have a bit of a different dilemma. She had her boyfriend over and they had sex. You have it on tape. The actors are both under eighteen, and I mean actors not synonymous with thesbians, I mean that they did it. But you have it on tape. It depicts what amounts to kiddie porn. You didn't want it, you didn't ask for it, what do you do ? Well the first thing that spung to one present (I think) mind is that legally it should be destroyed immediately, because it is illegal to posess,. but that is oversimplistic, even Occam can't cut through this one bedause if you destroy the tape, you are destroying evidence of a felony, which is a felony itself in most if not all states, or depending on who your lawyer is. Then there is the point that it would be illegal to a greater degree if you show it to other people. Cops are other people. Let's take that a step further, and stipulate that that ad hoc their job, they have an exemption, or somebody must because for the tape to evidence, SOMEWHERE someone has to watch the tape. So that would have to be a doctor or an LEO of some type, or would that include juries as well ? So an LEO charged with investigating such crimes would have some sort of immunity to carry out his job. What if he does some work at home. Then strictly for investigative purposes the immunity would extend and he could indeed have kiddie porn and be immune to prosecution. Should it ? Now take this thing with the assumption that there is no wrongdoing by anyone but those "crazy kids", and realize just how complicated things got so quickly. They put camera in their house because they wanted to know what is going on there. What about cameras outside the house ? I got two. What would they pick up, some idiot walking into my tree ? It's my camera and my tree, (as much as one can really own a tree). Should I be suable if I put it on youtube ? Sans youtube, if I was a Parent with that tape of trist, exactly who should I cll ? To whom do I show it ? Do I call 911 and say, "you gotta send someone out" and they say "what's the trouble" and you say what ? "someone really has to come watch this video". that doesn't sound right. What does ? For almost sure if I show that tape to anyone I have then not only been in possesion, but also desseminated it. What if I showed a Priest and ...... Who then ? The cop on the beat ? If he's a mister herbert type, I'd have to sit there waiting for a million dollars bond. Who do I call, the Capitain ? The Chief ? Andy Griffith ? Go ahead and joke, but I think it an interesting quandry. What really would be the exact right thing to do. Can you tell me assuredly that if I called up 911 and told them I had that, I would not be at risk of being detained at least per investation, like what happens when you shoot someone. I know for a fact in this town when you shoot someone you go to jail, but not under arrest. They investigate any possible ties, like if he was an asshole brother in law or something like that. Even if the killing is 100 % justifiable, you are jammed up for a couple of days. It would be at least that, and of course your life would be totally scrutinized. They wouldn't find very much to go on really, and they shouldn't find any similar material. It is simply not one of your vices, so no problem. I could see them rolling the computers and everything out. They way I think they would see it is that the simple possesion is an indicator of guilt, and would have to eliminate the possibility of malfeasance on my part. This would be rquired for me to be considered an accuser rather than a violator. And they have seen so many games that they would think this is just a new one. Even in the absence of any malfeasance, who would make the right decisions ? So maybe that's the new morlity. Just assume that you are being watched everywhere. That'll keep people in line. But then............ T^T
