We got a bigger flat-screen a while ago (other half came home with it) and I think it was last May he bought it, last weekend I had him explain how to switch it on and all, just in case I don't want to watch Dr Who on iPlayer... Otherwise, not really bothered with it, don't like cinemas, DVDs are fine if I absolutely want to see something but I prefer books, I could live without a TV but I gotta have my books... Which reminds me, need to clear my side of the bed of books, the path between the books and the bed is getting a bit too narrow.

What I don't like about movies is that they just run, with a book it's my own speed, my idea of what beautiful is, I kinda hate seeing a movie if I read the book before, always a let down...

Speaking as a sub, I think trash tv is the biggest cause of brain rot in modern society! Most of it is aimed at people with IQ's at a level barely above absolute zero. No one who watches this stuff could possibly have the brain to dream up nicely nasty things to do to another person. Although I suppose if you were really nasty and into extreme scenes, you could force someone to watch the 'X-Factor', or the current version of 'Who Katy did next'.......

There might be something in the fact that watching TV is a very passive thing. Reading and even web-surfing of pictures takes active use of the mind in a way that watching TV doesn't. And Dommes are 'active' types. They like to act upon people, rather than be passive with them, so that characteristic might hold true with (other) forms of entertainment, too.

However, no matter how superbly the foregoing hypothesis was expressed, it was almost certainly bollocks.

Same, a few shows I love, but they tend to be infrequent or cancelled: True Blood, 30Rock, Better Off Ted, Masterpiece Theatre Classic, Live from the Metropolitan Opera, SNL if they've got a good guest, aka, not deNiro.
Cannot stand the lowest-common denominator 'reality' shows which are cheap, anti-female and predominating the airwaves; so depressing. Have you LISTENED to the Jersey Show scumballs?
I LURVE movies, in a theatre or at home, and have stacks of the latter; I love caressing a good and naked man while we watch, until we have to hit pause ;-)

I've been in the homes of many BDSM enthusiasts, and I can't recall any particular absence of television sets.

No, I don't think you're off the mark.  Not that I'm pinning the trait to any particular group due to gender, orientation, or any other thing.

I think people have shifted a bit in their leisure time and a lot of that is due to the internet.  Rather than passive, we've adapted to becoming more mentally engaged, due to things like this board right here.  For example, to Me, discussing this topic with you is more mentally stimulating than sitting back and watching My favorite show.  I like both, but I probably have a higher preference for the discussion.

i catch the news if its convient otherwise i dont bother with tv. when im with my Mistress i enjoy being with Her not watching tv.
