Heh.  I have to admit, some time after the Falklands War broke out, it emerged that many of even our most high-profile journalists had panicked because they'd thought the Falklands were somewhere off Scotland.  Can you imagine?  "Feck!  How did the Argies manage to get their fighter-jets all the way across the Atlantic without our noticing?" [:D]

The Royal Family probably said that being born in Kenya procludes him from being a legitimate president for the U.S., so they decided to skip his invitation.

If he had been invited, and im still not sure he hasnt, then those who are ridiculing him now would be complaining about the security costs and travel expenses.

Dunno if we got to make a big deal out of the fact that the British PM was not invited to Brangelina's wedding...

You are comparing the wedding of the Prince of England with a couple of actors in the states? Do you get all your info on the people here from the telly or do you actually think things out for yourself occasionally?

Moonhead -> RE: Obama's snubbed (1/27/2011 5:40:35 AM)

I think that was a joke about the fact that the Prince* and his fiancee have about as much to do with British politics as a couple of overpaid American actors do with yours.

I wonder how many Americans actually know where England is on a map?

Or that the Brits burned down the White House.

And why did the Brits burn down the White House?

pahunkboy -> RE: Obama's snubbed (1/27/2011 6:09:57 AM)

pahunkboy -> RE: Obama's snubbed (1/27/2011 6:11:13 AM)

The British also burned the United States Treasury Building and other public buildings.

Retaliation is a bitch, ya know.

Shouldn't have 1776 been resolved by 1812?  and those same forces are in play in 2011.

tazzygirl -> RE: Obama's snubbed (1/27/2011 6:23:44 AM)

Oh, so they cannot retaliate because of a time line you believe was out of date?

Battle of York... 1813.

Burning of the Washington... 1814.

Doesnt seem that out of date to me.

pahunkboy -> RE: Obama's snubbed (1/27/2011 6:47:29 AM)

They had no business hindering us from trade with France.

tazzygirl -> RE: Obama's snubbed (1/27/2011 6:54:36 AM)

And we had no business sacking a territory we had won by an act of war.

GreedyTop -> RE: Obama's snubbed (1/27/2011 6:58:08 AM)

tazzy.. dont you know better, by now?

tazzygirl -> RE: Obama's snubbed (1/27/2011 7:00:20 AM)

mons -> RE: Obama's snubbed (9/23/2011 3:09:44 AM)

I think it had to do with both of them being famous, so the couple did not invite the Obama;s
because of too much press, and also whom would the press be taking more pictures of, the wedding
of  Royal Couple or the First African Amercian President!  It was plan and spoke of before they knew
they would not go!  They had already visited with the Queen and Prince Phillip!  No snub was intended
at all!  Also no snub was taken!!!!!!!

Mons ( i am so late with my post lol but hey I got it in)
