That was great Greedy… Birds can be nuts sometimes.

I love to backpack through the Missouri Ozarks and on one trip I happened upon a gaggle of geese. I leaned on my walking stick and was enjoying an alpha goose chase his rivals away from his harem raising a racket pecking and flapping his wings.

All of a sudden he looked over at me… lowered his neck and head… opened his wings and made a beeline straight at me honking and hissing.

It startled me and I must say I thought about running…lol but with the pack I knew he would be pecking at my butt before I could get away.

You don’t realize how big these birds are until one is pissed off and 5 feet away charging you with this long bill aimed right between your legs.

Will I am not proud to say I took my heavy walking stick and in a good batting stance I popped him right in the head like I was hitting a home run.

He went down like a sack of potatoes and I though I’d killed him. I went to poke him with my stick and damn if he didn’t jump up and charge again… but he was shaky and ran like a drunk… I decided it was a good time to get away.

I had one decide that his reflection in the window was a rival and kept attacking it. The fact that he never felt another bird never occurred to him. Bird brains, you know.
