It was part of Our poly dynamic that i not sleep in bed with Them. i wasn't there for sex or as any kind of equal life-partner. It just wasn't a primary part of the dynamic i was engaged in when i slept on the floor.

As far as an all the time, every night thing? my back would insist otherwise.

I'll give you a good matress on the floor in the spare bedroom (Now it is a bed), but you should know you may share it with one or two large snow dogs who will serinade you loudly from close range when an ambulance or fire truck goes past replete with sirens. they will pounce on you and try to wash your eyeballs early morning to make sure you are awake and ready to give them cuddles. malamutes and Huskies do not have that "Dog" smell but a more pleasant scent unless they are wet and then you smell the smell of a wet wolf. (yep both have wolf blood in them). I may allow you to join me in the double bed with Neets, or if I head to bed early, Neets may instruct you to lay naked next to me. It is our choice who joins us in bed and when and for how long. Such is the place of a slave.

For punishment, reinforce the feelings of being owned, sadistic, pleasurable, pecking order,etc.

This is a subject that falls under "To each his/her own". Typically, I've seen doms do it to reinforce the slaves position (I haven't met a dom who has had a sub do it). I've seen it as both routine and as punishment. Some slaves get off on it. It's not for me, but if that's a ritual that helps the slave feel secure in her place, I say have at it.

Im a young girl, Theres No medical reasons as to why I wont sleep on the floor. I just wont.

I am not A slave. So maybe it doesnt apply to me. But Im not an "object" I dont find pleasure in a partner telling me its my "place"

I prefer a relationship dynamic where I am my Partners submissive because it suits both of us, I am his lover his girlfriend his pet his sweetheart. I am not his object to use as he sees fit, everything he does Has consequences. If at the end of the day the balance sheet isnt tabulating, Im usually not having my needs met and resentment builds.

I think that it's not a bed size issue, but a 'you can't use furniture' issue. A famous one... I don't like not being allowed to use furniture, heh, but some people like that kind of things. Hmm, I could stand it, though. Pretty indiferently.

when i was a new slave Master had His other slave in town. she slept besides Him this particular night. He had me sleep on the floor by the bed. sometime during the night He grabbed me by the collar pulled me up. my head tilted back , His face close to mine , He then growled how much He liked having me on His floor. let go of the collar and told me to sleep .Hottest thing evah ??? well its right up there.

for me, there were times when i WANTED to sleep on the floor. it was never required of me, and my former M used to call me a "little space heater," so he was more comfortable with me in the bed with him. =p
but i wanted to sleep on the floor at times as an act of deference or respect to him.

i have slept on the floor only one other time and that was a few years ago. Master loves to have me snuggling against Him as much as possible . He said once as much as He loves me on the floor He loves my body close to His much more.

While I understand all the reasons (asserting dominance, punishment) for making a slave sleep on the floor, they have never had much appeal for me. I enjoy having her warm, soft, curvy body next to mine and I see no reason why I should be deprived of that to satisafy other people's symbolic notions of superiority (we both know who the master and who the slave is) or as a punishment (why should I be deprived because she's been disobedient? There are other methods of discipline).

Just as a side note: I applay the same philosophy to the woman on top posistion. I've heard of some Doms who won't engage in it because they see it as symbolically wrong. "Patooie" to that I say. I'm the Dom, why should I be the one to do the "work" all the time? Sometimes a guy just wants to lay back and get his rod polished while watching some tits bounce up and down.

Oddly enough, I have the same philosophy. I don't think men and women are terribly different in this respect. I mean, I'm sure there are folks out there who don't like the 'lie back and enjoy' aspect, but I'm not one of them.

Does it matter to Me that, in certain positions, another person is 'higher' than Me? Absolutely not.

I've been following this with interest. Actually *I* sleep on the floor! Not every night, but I've slept on hardwood, lino, carpet. With a little sleeping bag or foamy and without. Not as a slave or submissive, just visiting people's houses. I often find the floor is better than the couch for me. Sometimes it totally snaps my back into place.

Does this mean when I have a live in slave I should make him sleep in my bed as punishment?

As far as Im concerned this is a fairly basic concept. For me, I would only use it as a punishment, but within my mind I can fathom many a circumstance where this would be valid. Beds are comfy. If you have been bad, why do you deserve to be comfy?

That being said, I have absolutely no problem with girl-on-top. Im a young guy, but sometimes even I need a break. That doesnt mean Im giving them control, it just means that if they dont please me while Im relaxing and enjoying the view then there will be consequences once Im ready. : )

There are plenty of reasons to make the sub/slave sit on the floor. The biggest reason in my dynamic would be as punishment to remind me that the bed is purely at his discretion, and if I don't deserve it in his eyes, then no bed for me. If I'm a bitch, then he may very well see fit to let me know by example that I belong on the floor sometimes.
He does prefer me in the bed with him though, hard to surprise-sex someone as a wake up call when that person is on the floor. ;P

Judging by one response, it shows precisely why I only deal with slaves. Personal slaves are My property to do with as I wish (in a safe, sane and predetermined consensual manner). House slaves are Staff. If needs be I will lock on an iron leg shackle with a chain attached from the leg to the toilet allowing the slave to make use of the dunny without wandering off.My sandpit/ball park, my game, my rules, comply or find another place to park your ASS.

I sleep on the floor fairly often when I'm with my love, and it's actually more of a reward for me than a punishment. He knows I love it - I have plans to sew up my own body-length pillow for the floor, similar to a dog bed. It makes me feel warm and safe, as someone else here posted, I love, love, love opening my eyes and looking up at him. He doesn't make me sleep on hard floor - I get pillows and blankets and comfy stuff. I just very much like physically being below him.
