I actually have some picnic style food slow-cooking over night in the oven right now. BBQ! I am also going to be making beef and barley soup tomorrow. YUM! Edited to add: Because I am not stupid and ice and blizzards are being forecast, I also bought some canned soup. My gas grill has a burner. So, if the power fails I will STILL be able to fix something hot to eat. And of course, meat can be grilled as well as veggies.

To believe I was supposed to be in Tucson this week. It was me, Aylee. I didn't just want 1 day off, I wanted 2 days off!! (I paid for that already - we moved into the "all ice, all the time" zone, and topped it off with wind to 35mph Wednesday)

Yep. the icing has started falling here....we're going to hopefully miss the worst of it, but we expect a 1/2 inch of ice here tomorrow. fun fun fun.

Went out today, did most of my grocery shopping. The rest tomorrow before nightfall although, idiot that I am, I love driving in the snow. Forecast of flurries tomorrow, with 4-6" of the white word tomorrow night and an equal amount, if not more on Wednesday. Library books stocked up? yep Groceries including stuff that's bad for me? yep Pilot light on for the propane fireplace? Nope Dammit!! Trying to figure out how to access the pilot light? No such luck. Expected power outage? Damn well better not be!! Parking up top by my apt? Nope, slip and slide all over the place. Parking at the bottom? Yup Having to haul 3 loads of groceries up to my apt? Yup Dammit again!!!!! More stuff to haul tomorrow? Yup FFS Thru about a foot of snow? yup Lost the earmuffs cuz of course it's freezing? yup Hibernate til the spring thaw? Under consideration. [;)]

Oh,I love beef barley soup. I also make a kind that has the barley and veggies from that but i make tiny meatballs and add spinach and mushrooms. I have some of that in the freezer. Being single I cook in big batches then pack it into single servings. My grill is charcoal but i can use it in the garage, and I am lucky to have a fireplace. I so want one of those fireplace popcorn makers. Edited to add; I just looked outside, Everything has at least a 1/4 inch of ice on it, damn it looks pretty but I can still live without it.
