As you might guess, I am a dedicated tea drinker. I do also enjoy a good coffee, mainly when out and about, preferably people watching from a pleasant pavement cafe; Italy is good........but when at home, I'm generally not far away from a warming cuppa.

Now, tongue not entirely divorced from in-cheek position, I have a question. But relevant I'm sure to more than the matter of that essential cup of tea.

Who makes the tea?

In a D/s situation, its obviously the one who's least tied up at the time! No worries there then. As a dom/me, one can make one's own tea quite guilt free! (Almost poetical that, eh?)

However, what about the M/s situation? Who makes it then? As a Master, or Mistress, one should be free to make the tea if one pleases; although should one also make one for the slave?? Possibly pouring it down their front or something?? Should one simply look questioningly at slave in order to have them scoot to kitchen to produce desired beverage? Or should one require a good slave to be so aware of one's preferences that there is never any need to use said withering glance to request a cuppa? Knowing Master's likes and dislikes, should the good slave invariably have the required cuppa ready to one's elbow at the instant it is required?

Just popping off now to put the kettle on......back soon!

<Tongue firmly planted in cheek>
All the tw00 submittives and slabes have the mind reading microchip implanted. The tea should be prepared even before master realizes he desires a cup.
</removes tongue from cheek>.... Hey did that make me "cheeky"?

I'm aware of a few relationships where the master will prepare his own beverage, and hand his slave one as well. In their dynamic, it's courtesy, not serving.
Personally, I'd be happy either way. Although I'd prefer being on the serving side, but "to each their own".

Tea should always be served by the s in full geisha regalia in accordance to the appropriate protocol: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_tea_ceremony

I don't drink tea. Times like this, it makes life easier.

Hmm. I rather like the geisha idea; but I think the tea ceremony would take ages. Possibly reserve this one for special occasions!

Diet Pepsi for the win!

Seriously, I'm a firm believer of house rules.  Whoever is in charge in the house makes the rules.  That means it's up to them.

I am picky-picky about loose leaf teas and coffee, and it's easier for me to adjust the brew temperature or the grind or the amount by eye, according to the smell and taste of the particular batch, than it is to try to verbally convey the end results I want from it.

Teabag tea my subby can make for me, that doesn't take an experienced tea or coffee master to adjust all the little things that make a perfect brew.

I do like slaves making tea for me. I sometimes use them as a tea table when the tea isn't too hot, but warm enough to leave a nice red circle on their bare backs. Though I don't make a big ceremony about it, since that's how I usually get my meals too.

First one up puts the kettle on here. Which means it depends on who was up half the night with insomnia.

Years ago, when part of the Gorean Lifestyle Community, I wrote a Bazi Tea service bassed on the traditions of coffee drinking by the Bedouin and Turkish traditions. When used it has found acclaim for those witnessing it including non Gorean folk. Even not and whilst following another path, the service I wrote still gains kudos as an eloborite service.

If he wants me to make him a cup of tea then I make him a cup. If I'm cooking for him then I ask him what he wants to drink and I make it for him. Since we don't live together he usually makes his own. If he's cooking or getting himself something to drink most of the time but not always he'll ask me if I would like something as well and he makes it for me.

We're pretty much like most couples I think. We do things for each other.

Situational appropriate is my take...

He who is available makes the tea in day to day life. But the master should have a full tea ceremony when the press of mundane existence is being held at bay.

How nice to find that others are as dedicated to the drinking of tea as I am! And that people produce ceremonies and societies dedicated to this gentle art. Thanks very much all. I looked at the Ladies site, SimplyMichael - what a nice idea.

I make the tea/ coffee/ hot choc/ vodka/ wine/ beer.  Though he has been known to.  He 'asks' rather than demands.

On the plus side he does the cooking.

If they want it they better make it, I don't drink either tea or coffee (can't stand the taste of either), and the few times I tried the person I made it for had to go and remake it in order to have something potable.

It depends. In a more formal setting, such as if guests are over or he's feeling a bit more subservient than normal, my pet makes and serves the tea. If it's just a normal day at home, I probably will, or whoever happens to be in the kitchen at the time and decides that a cup of tea sounds good. It's kind of amusing as I'm a bit of a tea snob, and one of the first things I teach my pets is how to make tea properly, and the different kinds of teas, and the proper temperatures and vessels and what have you. I find it amusing to watch some of them who always thought "Tea" meant a bag of Lipton in some boiling water in a cup from the microwave. LOL They just look so confused for the first few days. Especially when I introduce them to the tea shelf in the pantry, with what has as of today, 43 different kinds of tea.

Ahh but do you make a credible Vodka Martini, a Gin Sling, A Mint Julep, or a B&B?

I do all the cooking, cleaning, baking, sewing and yes, make the tea because I'm very good at such things and he sucks. For the most part, we each do what we excel at doing and stay away from those areas where we aren't so comfortable. I probably wouldn't try to change the spark plugs and he'd not attempt to make a garment. Of course, we could each learn, but why bother when there is so much other stuff to learn that neither one of us yet know!
