Well I am doing my bit to help the oyster population.

I stay as far away from the little snot in shells as i can... ughh

YUCK! My ex did like to eat them fresh out of the ocean, when he fished off the coast. He said it was the only way to eat them. I've never had any desire to do more than take his word for it. A shame, cuz I really do like pearls

PS - haven't read the link yet... maybe I shouldn't have mentioned that I love pearls. Don't wanna get spanked for being environmentally unfriendly.

I could eat a dozen without a problem. Luv em. A little horse radish and a couple of drops of fresh lemon juice in the shell is great..To expensive here in the north woods though.

I'm reporting the whole thread to the moderators for being nonkosher.

I see a price hike until the population gets back up.  Same thing happened with chilean sea bass - best tasting fish in the world (in my humble opinion) but fell on the endangered species list.  I'm just starting to see it sold again, here and there.

I love oysters.  Daddy & I had oysters on our first date.

In their natural state oysters do resemble rocks full of snot.

Not only the oysters. It is a problem with all the seas resources because of commercial overfishing. The European eel for example is now at 1% of stocks what it was 50 years ago. I have fished all my life and generally love all seafood. But today what i spend on fishing i could eat the same fish in Copenhagens finest seafood restaurant cheaper than what i catch my self.
