ORIGINAL: Phoenixpower Someone not necessarily understanding possibilities, such as transmitting diseases is not something I would equal with ignorance. Greetings Phoenixpower, The gentlemen is unaware of the ramifications of his behavior and is therefore ignorant of the alternatives he can undertake to prevent self harm. I don't know what you gleaned from that statement since the definition of the word is in line with its use in the sentence. still doesn't mean ignorance to me. Unaware I agree, ignorance is IMO a way too strong word for his situation. quote:

Apart from that it wasn't stated that he sleeps arount, does it? Yes, it was mentioned that he doesn't understand health impacts, but that itself does not equal fucking around. Once again it would appear your comment is not in reference to my previous response. I have not suggested that the individual is promiscuous at all. And although he's living in a residential environment it isn't uncommon for residents to engage. Having worked in residential environments for over 10 years I am pretty well aware of the fact htat the residents do engage, and thank goodness they do. Hence why I see the judges response as way out of the window as my focus always was and will be to support the vulnerable adult in his position. I know how some of the folks I worked with would be devastated if anyone would dare to imply to forbid to them to do so. As it was said before by someone else who are we to take away basic instincts. If I would be working with him, from the little bit of facts we do know, I would support Alan to appeal against that decision. quote:

Well said, reminds me on a previous doctor who ignored my immense pain caused due to having fibromyalgia, with dismissing it that the pain would be weight related [8|] which quite frankly, wasn't the case, as I know now thanks to a different doctor I'm glad to hear you've found a good physician. The weight was not the cause of your pain but a contributing factor because Fibromyaligia episodes typically limit mobility and the excess weight is taxing on the joints. I had pain in all twenty-one positions along with a severe case of CFS but I've been in remission for years. Losing weight eliminated most symptoms and a change in diet got rid of the rest. I hope you're in better health. It can be a debilitating disease to deal with. Namaste, ~porcelaine Nice try but you are wrong. Fibromyalgia causes many and very different symptoms to different people and believe it or not my joints are perfectly fine. I have my symptoms since I was about 10 years old, despite a very healthy diet (and I am grateful that parents as well as greatparents cooked very healthy meals with a lot of fruits and vegetables stemming from their own gardens). I was slim until I was 20 years old as I did sports 4-6 evenings per week, I just havent had a name for it as for me it was normal to be in pain about 300 days per year and only needed the GP about it in the last years, as the symptoms worsened massively in the last 3 years due to lack of sleep (due to working like mad over here to try to cover my costs despite studying) and way too much stress in my life with juggling uni, placement and work demands. And therefore as going to bed became a nightmare due to the pain which I could not explain, was the only reason I went to the GP. The pain worsened as my muscles turned stiff during the night, causing my whole body to turn stiff as I did not manage anymore to "switch off". Now that uni is over I am able to improve it again, but quite frankly it had nothing to do with my joints which I had explained that incompetent doc with highlighting the pain in my upper arms as well. Apart from that knowing what the condition is also enabled me to avoid factors which trigger it, such as bothering to argue with someone who is keen on arguing when s/he iisnt worth it and to ensure I am wrapped up warm enough outside as cold itself triggers it already. So quite frankly that GPs assessment was way off the border, as a size 16 which I was at that time is a few kg too much but not extreme over the limit, which would have justified his view, so it was quite frankly bullshit. And despite weight it doesn't justify him not even looking for the reasons which causes it as simply weight alone doesn't reduce the symptoms with fibromyalgia, at least not in my case. Last but not least fms can limit mobililty, however some people are taken more over from this condition than others and I think that if you get it at an older age then you are at higher risk to get depressed from it and reduce your mobility further with avoiding it then when you simply are used to the pain from a kids age onwards, as kids do handle it differently than adults; I always used to nikname phantom pain (meaning that I would have a phantom in my body moving around with always causing pain at other parts of the body. Apart from that I don't call it episode as I never really have rest from it unless I take medication.
