Sarah, Bristol Palin seek to have their names trademarked

Termyn8or -> RE: Sarah, Bristol Palin seek to have their names trademarked (2/6/2011 9:54:03 PM)

Now there's a good joke if I even done seen one.

Who in the hell would pay royalties to use the name of someone who was obviously elected on sex appeal to promote their product ? Bristol bath soap ? Palin carpet cleaners ? Pregnent teenage asswipe roofing ? Brunette bimbo auto wrecking ?

T^T

tazzygirl -> RE: Sarah, Bristol Palin seek to have their names trademarked (2/6/2011 10:05:32 PM)

Bristol is already a product name... lol

Fellow -> RE: Sarah, Bristol Palin seek to have their names trademarked (2/6/2011 10:07:00 PM)

In America politicians cashing in everywhere possible seems to be OK. Look at Bill Clinton for example: he has no shame getting bribes  around the World and the majority of people still love him. Trademarking name seems to be a novel invention in politics. I guess, a few years from now every politician will have their name trademarked. It is like every celebrity is now a famous fashion designer or expert in other areas (except in reality they do not have much to do with the product), or everybody writing books (in reality talking occasionally to a ghost writer).  Advertising is amazing thing, it irritates me (and almost everybody I know), but still sells.

It's in several product names over here.

You can just see caribou Barbie trying to sue companies based in Bristol (or Bristol city council itself) into paying her off.

Hasn't the sow done enough to wreck her daughter's life already with the whole "teenage single mother" thing?

Hillwilliam -> RE: Sarah, Bristol Palin seek to have their names trademarked (2/7/2011 5:31:47 AM)

I wonder if the Bristol Speedway "The world's fastest half mile" will have to pay royalties?

(We have a Bristol here in the states too moon)

I was forgetting that you had a famous racetrack in a town of that name: mea culpa.

You've probably got more than just the one: I think there's two or three Birminghams over there...

What is Bill Clinton being bribed to do?

rulemylife -> RE: Sarah, Bristol Palin seek to have their names trademarked (2/7/2011 6:32:26 AM)

Pahunk, who did you piss off that your threads keep getting moved?

A lot of your threads do belong here but this one doesn't.

Moonhead -> RE: Sarah, Bristol Palin seek to have their names trademarked (2/7/2011 6:32:26 AM)

He's a Democrat, so obviously if anybody pays him, it must be a bribe.

Except it doesn't make any sense.  He is not in office so he has no political power unless the implication is that he is influencing his wife's decisions.

Don't they know that 'Dumb and Dumber' is already trademarked as a movie title.

Apparently not.

Indeed, a quick look found a Bristol, Connecticut and a Bristol, Indiana.

(Bristol, TN and VA is for all practical purposes one city with a state line going down main st)

Will Bristol/Meyers have to pay royalties?

mnottertail -> RE: Sarah, Bristol Palin seek to have their names trademarked (2/7/2011 8:40:59 AM)

I am today saddened by the news that ships can no longer be maintained in bristol fashion.

The navies of the world weep.

Lord Nelson, upon the waters (vomiting sound)

Doesn't make sense and really has nothing to do with the two idiots mentioned in the OP. Now I can't imagine why anyone would want to use their names, but I suppose if they want to make themselves look like fools. More power to them.

Had to look it up because I wasn't sure. Here's a link for anyone else who is curious.

Maybe caribou Barbie thinks she can sue Tina Frey the next time she does a skit about her if she copyrights her name?
The woman's come out with much stupider notions than that, after all.

Actually I think Tina should sue the people who keep giving Sarah credit for her quote.
