ash.. what is it with you and the "hello dear"?

just a thought.. not everyone LIKES to be addressed as 'dear'.. some folks find it demeaning and insulting.

just sayin'

Say thank you to everyone who took time to reply. It is the courteous thing to do.

There is a journal entry on my profile you should read.

Welcome bgheartwfire ... you might like to wander over to the Ask a Mistress forum. I will give you one heads up hot tip ... not every female Dominant likes to be called Goddess ... or indeed, Ma'am, Miss, Mistress, Lady, Domme (especially not pronounced Dommay!) or whatever title! Safest bet BY FAR is to address each one by their screen name ... if you then get into conversation you can ask Her how She prefers to be addressed. Following this tip WILL save you a lot of heartache!

Hi Ash,

"Hello Dear" is not appropriate. Your English teacher was right, but in the context of a formal letter only:

2. (used in the salutation of a letter as an expression of affection or respect or as a conventional greeting): Dear Sir.

Here are some other definitions:

1. beloved or loved: a dear friend.
3. precious in one's regard; cherished: our dearest possessions.
4. heartfelt; earnest: one's dearest wish.
5. high-priced; expensive: The silk dress was too dear.
6. charging high prices: That shop is too dear for my budget.
7. excessive; high: a dear price to pay for one's independence.
8. Obsolete . difficult to get; scarce.
9. Obsolete . worthy; honorable.

</English lesson>

Hello new person, welcome to the land of Dominant Goddesses.

Welcome to CM and the boards.  Yup, the Ask A Mistress forum, take time to read the FAQs and the section guidelines.  These will be a great help.

Pssst....Greedy, I've been wondering about the "hello dear" for awhile now, and lemmetellya, every time I see it, sets my teeth on edge.  Call me "dear" if I don't know you and I'll tell you I'm not an animal.  [;)]
