ORIGINAL: SpiritedRadiance FR Actually Bi polar Depression can be managed effectively with out medication and has been proven to do as such. If shes been diagnosed for most of her life and been under the care of professional doctors who are trained in knowing what their patient needs. Perhaps her doctor has decided that the prescription for her ADHD Is enough to control her Bi polar as well... I cant take medication for my Bipolar, Medicine metabolizes too fast in my system and the only way to use the medication effectively is to give me doses that will shut down my liver and kidneys with in a few years. However Ive found that when Im manic a shot or two of alcohol, and when Im depressed a jar of applesauce knocks me back into transition and I stay happy. When ever I start to feel Im going one way or the Other I adjust, I end up having about 4 alcoholic beverages a month which does WAY less damage then 2000 mgs of Lithium. I manage my Swings My ups my Downs and my in-betweens with no issue at all in fact since Ive gotten off of medication and on to a steady diet of red meat once a week, Veggies and Fruit, and moderate exercise. I haven't gone into a manic state in almost a year. When I would normally cycle 4 to 5 times a year. There are so many other choices besides lithium these days: my sister-in-law has done fabulously well: first she was on lamictal, abilify and an antidepressant, and now it is just the abilify and an antidepressant. Some of the anti-convulsants have pretty high dosage possibilities, so it would be possible to take a high dose and break it down into multiple doses several times a day. Having said that, I am glad you have found a system that works for you.
