I guess I should have said working world rather than business. I wondered if I should make that clear when I first posted that. Basically I meant people shouldn't get wealthy/make a living from the public trough of politics.

If they cant make a living from public service then they must have been wealthy to start with... not a great alternative. As far as getting wealthy from it, a job in politics is no different than any other job..its a resume builder. If you are successful enough then using it as a springboard to something that can make you wealthy isnt nor should it be prevented.

Politics should not be a profession. You should earn your own money. If after that, you want to help the greater good, run for office. Use your experiences as a successful business person to help inform your input on laws to be enacted, etc.

So attorneys do not earn their own money?

I'm not aware of any law students who come out of school with a specialization in politics.

I did not say that. I find it hard to believe that what I wrote was so confusing.

Well yes, you did more or less say that.

You seem to be believe government should be run on voluntarism.

Unfortunately, the harsh reality is that it is too large and too complex to be run by Joe the Plumber.

And if a candidate is a "lawyer" I'm just not interested in them. There's far too many of them in our govt mucking up things!

Yeah we sure as hell wouldn't want anyone with legal experience making laws.

You have to excuse me now though, I have a leaking faucet.  I have to call my accountant to see if he can come over and fix it.

How do you know they aren't already. How sure are you that actual lawmakers are writing these bills? They sure as hell don't read them.
