Toppingfrmbottom -> what should I do? (2/15/2011 10:34:04 PM)

I ordered a custom made monopoly board for Daddy it cost us 50 dollars, I don't mind the cost, but  here;s my dilima. When it arrived I noticed right away she used a poor quality torn up board to make our board, she took a monopoly board then painted over it and laminated custom made slots to it,  but I let it slide, and I said I loved it. I do, but today upon looking closer I see a bunch of area's where she did a really poor job with our board and it's driving me nuts. I already said I loved the board thank you, so logically I s houldn't come back now and say oh btw................

but on the other hand, she was contracted to do a project and it's poor seller craftman ship to start a project with a subpar board, It if was just the board I'd let it go,  but I feel when a customer then discovers that there's other mistakes they should point it out.

Because if it was me making something for a client my sense of professionalizm would not of let me use a ratty board.

I think you should contact her, and express your concerns.

I really want to, I just feel bad cuz I said I lovedit because I did not notice the other poorly done parts an tried to live with the board being ratty, but well I am a paying customer n I will be tactful

definitely report it. you can tell her that you gave her your earlier review regrettably without having the chance to really look the piece over. it's always best to go with a positive and a negative, so find something you DO like about the board, but pair that with something you wish was done better; like a better board, and better painting work.
does this seller have any kind of return policy? most of them won't let you return custom work, but they will often work with you to fix something.

good luck

Lily we don't want to return it but we were gonna order from her again maybe she could discount us.

GreedyTop -> RE: what should I do? (2/15/2011 11:38:10 PM)

doing what Lilly said.. (positive/negative) may help her to do better work in the future...

Toppingfrmbottom -> RE: what should I do? (2/15/2011 11:48:24 PM)

Greedy,  yeah I will emphasize the positive, but let her know I was disapointed with a few things.

Toppingfrmbottom -> RE: what should I do? (2/15/2011 11:52:01 PM)

She left out a few things she originally mentioned, and included in the inventory item of items included for this game, so I already had to ask her about that.

LillyBoPeep -> RE: what should I do? (2/15/2011 11:58:05 PM)

if she left stuff out, yeah -- definitely check with her on that; maybe she was slacking off when she worked on it. maybe there was something pressing that was distracting her. who knows...

Toppingfrmbottom -> RE: what should I do? (2/16/2011 12:51:53 AM)

this is what I said to her.

I hate the way the board is split down the middle, I don't know if it came that way and you decided to go ahead anyway, or you had to do that to make the design look, but it makes the board look really ratty , and in play, the split down the image kept making me want to count the space as two rolls and not one, it really distracted me. I didn't like that the moment I un wrapped the board, and I tried to over look it an I said I loved the board, because I do, I was just gonna try to live with it and find I can't let it go. I feel if it was like that when you bought the board, you shouldn't of used it, if it was me making something for a client, I wouldn't of used the board.

There's also a few spots around the edge of the board that wasn't fully tacked down it's lifting up. And a few spots that were not cut right and overlap and you can tell when you run your fingers over the board.

Overall I love the board, and I love how much work you put into doing it and thinking it up and and it was really fun to play tonight, and it was really fun to work with you on the board, and in April I look forward to planning another one together , if we can. and I'm not gonna return it, and I'm not gonna take back my feed back, nor am I asking for a refund or anything, But I did have a few little issues, and I am sorry I didn't say I hated the way the board was split down the middle at first, I really did try to live with it, it's just bugging me every time I like the board, and I really should of examined the board closer, an noticed the lil goofy spots before saying I loved it I hope you're not mad.

YoungBlondeSlave -> RE: what should I do? (2/16/2011 1:00:33 AM)

You sound thoroughly disappointed with her work. You seem to have a lot more complaints than likes about it. If you do choose to buy from her again, ask to be more closely involved with picking out the materials...maybe she'll allow you to do that. Ask for pictures of the progress to see if you want/need anything to be changed before the final product. Look online for an example of what you might want your product to look like, ask her if she can make it similar to that. I'm sure she'd be more than willing to at least listen to you since you're a paying customer.

Toppingfrmbottom -> RE: what should I do? (2/16/2011 1:24:11 AM)

I was also unhappy with how she packaged it, she sent it wrapped in butcher paper basically, no box, no protection from bending no nothing, she should of at least put it in a box.

YBS I could of over looked everything, if the center didn't look so horrible. I think she had to cut it in half to design it then tape it back together. Because there's black tape holding the back on the crease together. And it makes it look really ratty. I talked to another artist about it an he said I should demand my money back, she did an awful job and that if it was his work he'd be embarrassed to send me the piece.

i think you should report it too. Having said that, i must be honest. If it were me, i would be very reluctant to do that, even if they clearly deserved it. i'm a wus like that.

Me too. Well not a wuss but I do worry I'd hurt their feelings or spoke to soon an then look like an idiot with my foot in my mouth. It will be a lesson to careful inspect all parts of something I bought before giving it an I approve thumbs up.

I heard back from her an she's sorry I was so disapointed.

purepleasure -> RE: what should I do? (2/16/2011 3:53:59 PM)

I didn't read the whole thread. If I am unhappy with a purchase, I usually return the item and ask for my money back.
