humiliatemeuk198 -> toys a sub should own? (2/19/2011 2:32:02 PM)

hello everyone!

i know it obiously varries deppending on the Mistress, type of things the sub/Mistress are into but i was woundering what toys everyone thinks that all good subs should own for use in on-line domination/humiliation etc...?

I've always had the impression that a Dommes would generally prefer to tell you which toys to get, HM. It's all part of their desire to be in control.

i would've assumed that as well, although in my experience Dom's have always asked me what toys i have and then i guess they've adapted their orders arround what was available

Well I don't do online, but I'd have my own anything that had broken skin or could break skin, or was an insertable that couldnt be sanitized or steralized.

Can't you just put condoms on insertable toys, miss ?

There are some really good past threads on this subject in the submissive section.  You may be interested in doing a search.

For folks who are going to play other than just cam, I always suggest they have their own toy bag and not depend on the top.  Anything that is going to be inserted is a given.  My personal preference is to not use dildos, etc on more than one person.  As a top, I'm not purchasing those and expect the bottom to provide their own.  Gags fall into this category as well.

Included in this is anything that is going to break the skin.  If you have an interest in needles, buy some.  Yes, things like waternburg wheels can be cleaned, but why risk cross contamination?  Do you really know that equipment was sterilized the last time it was used?

Buy your own restraints.  There's no reason a top should have to provide these for you.  Same with your own blindfold.  That way, you're covered if the last top used rope on someone else earlier and hasn't had the opportunity to clean it yet.

Yes, you can.  However, you should NEVER rely solely on a condom to protect you from disease.  Nothing is 100% effective for preventing everything and some types of insertables can't be sterilized due to design or type of material.  Why take unnecessary risks?

LillyBoPeep -> RE: toys a sub should own? (2/20/2011 8:41:46 AM)

i have never participated in online/cam play, but it's always been recommended to me that you have your own toys (my toybag mostly sits in the closet these days but eh =p). you have the things you like, your partner has the things s/he likes, and you come to some sort of middle ground. and i agree -- have your own insertable things if they can't be really sanitized. if you're a rope person, have your own rope for things like crotch ropes and such -- can't put condoms on rope. =p a lot of whip people i know use crackers that they tie themselves because of the possibility of breaking skin/drawing blood, and many others don't share their wooden clothespins and blindfolds because they absorb a lot of stuff.
pick toys that you like, pick toys that you both like, pick whatever you want. if you're worried about trying to impress a potential partner, OP, a creative partner can usually find a way to work with what you have.

I don't require my sub to own any toys whatsoever. Her body's the canvas and I'll decide the things I wish to apply, and acquire them accordingly.

That said, most subs I've known have acquired at least a few things. I can understand anyone coming into the lifestyle and being fascinated with one toy or another to the point of actually acquiring it themselves.... Especially in this age of online shopping - where one doesn't have to be seen physically entering an adult store and asking embarrassing questions.

fairly certain that it's a kind of shortened version of the sticking tongue out smiley, not 100% though as i never use things like that

LPslittleclip -> RE: toys a sub should own? (2/21/2011 11:19:53 AM)

i like the color red so the toys i buy are red my Mistress likes purple. now i do own a bag of my own toys but they are all things that have apealed to me directly like my fox tail anal plug and my flogger and dragons tail. the rest i have collected with my Mistress at events like dom-con and self. so find some toys that you like and restaraints that you like color fit durability ect and then enjoy the journey in the lifestyle

This needs to be in Your sig-line.  And, just as You were rightfully awarded the "Sadistic in Leather" designation, i vote that the system admins/system developers customize Your sig-line so it appears at the top of Your posts instead of at the end... to save you repeated typing and all. :-)

A car, or enough money for an airplane ticket to meet her face to face, and discuss how you might submit to her.
If that doesn't work, you should ask the online dominants.    M

thishereboi -> RE: toys a sub should own? (2/28/2011 4:44:49 AM)

Other than a computer, I am not sure why I would need toys for an online relationship. It's not like she would be able to use them on me.

Yes, I do seem to say it quite a bit.  The reason for it is that I believe that there are some valuable past posts out there on subjects that occur often.  Ones that people might not see on their current thread because people who have been posting here for a while have answered it a number of times before or they include material from folks who might no longer be posting here.  There is some really good stuff back there for folks who want to see different opinions on their question.

ElanSubdued -> RE: toys a sub should own? (3/1/2011 11:00:56 AM)

LadyPact,

i'm pretty sure You knew my post wasn't snarky and Your response seems to confirm this.  Still, just in case, i'll underline that my intent was playful and supportive.  And yes, i agree... there are many valuable posts from members and years past (and, of course, from members and years present)!

LadyPact -> RE: toys a sub should own? (3/1/2011 11:13:50 AM)

Nah, I didn't take it as snarky.  I know there was one really good thread on the subject that's back there somewhere that folks also elaborated on the health reasons of why certain toys should be single user items.  They took the time to explain the health risks with various items.  I wish I could give credit where it is due, but the names are escaping Me at the moment.

ElanSubdued -> RE: toys a sub should own? (3/1/2011 11:23:35 AM)

Heh.  I'm clearly in one of *those* moods this morning.  Upon reading the topic again ("toys a sub should own"), my first thought was:  a domme.  Preferably one without batteries.  I do so hate it when I'm blissed out awaiting the next swat and... nothing comes... only to realize Duracell's ads about longevity aren't quite true.  That's why I always keep a second set of alkalines alongside the spare handcuff keys.  It pays to think ahead.  Occasionally the Bunny joins in (too) for an extra-special treat.  The life we submissives lead - certainly one to be envied.

Elan.
