The chat rooms are kind of useless. The boards here are much more interesting, although you can't troll here either. You are able to start your own chat room here on collarme. Then you could talk about what interests you.

Midear Velvet-

A troll is a boorish person who is offers nothing substantive to the board or room they are trolling on- they are just there to get laid.

I think the term actually comes from fishing, rather than the sort of troll that lives under a bridge and eats billy goats. I seem to recall it being spoken of as 'trawling' back in the day, which is fishing with nets, and just scoops up anything that's there. Trolling is putting along at about 4-8 knots, with a great deal of bait out on lines- a bit more discrimating that trawling.

I do sometimes think 'Troll' gets over used, as I have seen it applied to people who were adding something besides their ISO list.

Stay warm,
Lawrence

I have always thought of trolling as throwing out a line to see what you can catch. Yes, it's a fishing analogy.

Example: "I'll bet your wife will really appreciate how hard you are working to xxx" is a line designed to find out if the fellow is married or not.

I think over time it has also developed a nastier connotation online as Lawrence said. But I don't always view trolling as a bad thing.

I rarely even talk in chat rooms anymore because I got really tired of the fake bravado of the guys and the little wiggly subbie things that seem so forced when you realize it's just a chat room. Yeah, it works for some people, but I tend to shy away from those places these days. Of course, I tend to keep away from human beings in the real world, too.

Well, at least until I finish my comprehensive exams and begin writing my dissertation. I took my first half of the exams today, and in two weeks I finish off the last part. Then, I think I might start putting myself back out there again.

It's been a long, long time.

Thanks. There was a photographer doing portraits at Folsom this year. I thought I'd put something up that was more current.

The big dick pic is still around for when I'm feeling like a smart-ass again ;-)

Definition i found for trolling: The act of deliberately posting false or inflammatory information in order to start a flame war or cause aggravation to others.

I use to go to chat rooms a lot but there were bad vibes. I feel more comfortable here for some reason, guess i haven't been trolled on yet, but then again i dont chat here lol.
