Chat room?

Ah, hang on, I think I have a parchment with some information on chatrooms - trips over and buries face in mouldy elephant foot, piles of dust surround a moribund rodent which choked to death, while sniffing the air, crawls past an alligator sitting at the bar fishing for atoms in a bottomless glass of spirits....

Got it, sneezes 67 times, steps on the mouse, falls backwards and is swallowed by the bored alligator.

Strikes a light and a muffled voice declaims, "Chat Rooms, theoretical spaces occupying L-Space, having infinite potential but usual occupied by single celled creatures incapable of intelligent thought."

Regards

Trolling, corruption of the word TRAWL, to trawl, to throw out a baited line in order to trap as many fish as are possible.

As opposed to a troll who carries a big club and usually lives under bridges, very good at collecting road and bridge tolls.

Political Correctness - an oxymoron - as the politics is never correct, since politics is about not telling the truth, as for correct politics, you can never get two politicians to agree to anything, so the levels of correctness in politics are of the order of a minus quantity.

I guess it depends on what chat room you go in. Personally I have enjoyed many chat rooms through the years. I have met some of my best RL friends first in chat rooms or from meetings through mutual friends that I met in chat rooms. Granted there are many rooms out there that are just cyber play, but if you take the time to look for one that is of an iterest to you, it *is* possible.

BTW, I know many people who will use that quote for forums. Luckily I have found those with intelligent people to (including this one most of the time).

Since I don't chat, the term troll usually gets applied in my experience to people who are argumentative and seem to go out of their way to pick verbal fights. Personally, I think Velvettears has the right idea (hence the avatar with the pointy ears). At least my inner troll is a friendly chap!
