Sarah Palin, on Long Island


WOODBURY, N.Y. — Sarah Palin urged Congressional Republicans on Thursday to stand against raising the nation’s debt ceiling when the issue is debated this spring, declaring, “It doesn’t necessarily have to result in a government shutdown.”

Ms. Palin said she believed that increasing the Treasury Department’s legal borrowing limit would simply “create the allowance for big spenders to get in there,” rather than save the country from defaulting on its financial burdens. She said that “the government receives so much revenue” every day that she doubted the money would run out to pay for critical operations.

In a luncheon appearance before the Long Island Association, which bills itself as the state’s largest business organization, Ms. Palin engaged in an animated exchange as she took questions about current affairs, her worldview and, of course, her political future. She said that she was still weighing whether to join the 2012 Republican presidential race, but said voters craved an unconventional candidate.

“People are ready for our governmental establishment to be shaken up,” Ms. Palin said, adding that if she decided to become a candidate, she would campaign aggressively face-to-face with voters, not simply from a distance. “In a heated primary, it allows for some great debate – very heated discourse – all those things we need in order for those voters to decide.”

What, Lucy? At the time McCain plucked her from relative obscurity, it was the best hail-mary play he had. She's certainly gone down less productive paths since then, but has done a fine job as a lightning rod for the media and pundits. The left may have given her too large a platform, and too much stature if the Obama Presidency goes into a complete meltdown, but we'll burn that bridge if we come to it.

The rest of the world would be very grateful if you Americans could see your way clear to not electing a looney for President. Nothing personal against Ms Palin, it's just that she's a demented tart whose cretinous gob could easily precipitate a Third World War were she ever to get into a position of real power.

You have to understand something, Lucy. Being under constant attack from the left is what gives her credibility among some elements of the right. Without the constant exposure, and breathless reporting of her every twitter post, she'd be as meaningless as John Edwards by now.

If, she's lobbing bombs towards the White House, and they don't respond....why, they don't have the guts to take on Sarah!!  If they address her bombs, then they are the left that just obsesses with Sarah.

I found the part about engaging face-to-face ironic, since she specializes in one-way distance work at the moment.  She very rarely communicates with others in a two-way exchange of information, especially in an open forum (not just supporters) or with the ebil press.

Sad but true.  Rightist politics now is more about demonizing the left than in getting anything done.  Limbaugh paved the way.  Leftist pols are starting to do the same.
